Re: Would they be outlaws?

If you say that proscribing(legalized killing of family members) child nobles is a little gruesome for your game..consider this role playing adventure possibility.. Your party is the made up of surviving family retainers/servants,devoted bodyguards and huscarles  , who are determined that the E...

Re: Would they be outlaws?

While in general, baring an unusually vindictive justice system, I would say no in an ordinary criminal sense. HOWEVER, the third imperium is feudal, with feuding houses from the Imperial family on down. Feudal house systems have a nasty historical precedent of "don't leave defeated house members(in...

Re: Lab Ship

Actually demanding insurance is pretty much a standard practice of secured lenders. They want the money, even if the property is destroyed. Try getting a home loan,if you tell the bank, that 1. You don't want insurance(they will assume that you mean that you will skip on the loan if the property is d...

Re: Jumpspace - What Does It Look Like IYTU?

You know in lot of ways... I always preferred the B5 jumpspace to the traveller one. It was red and gaseous. you jumped in, and then navigation was treacherous, stay on the shipping lane mapped with beacons or risk becoming lost. The jump space had terrain, the suns in normal space tended to be vort...

Re: Plot Idea..Wrangels Fleet..Fleet stuck in Exile

Another factor on the Vargr fleet. The Imperial navy officers realize that if this bunch turns corsair.. they are going to try to treat their Imperial refuge as their corsair base and its going to be one of the largest in history.. And they are pissed big time and want their payback revenge.. The sm...

Plot Idea..Wrangels Fleet..Fleet stuck in Exile

I posted about this in comment in traveller facebook page.. but I decided that this a great enough plot idea to post it here From Real History In `1920 at the end of the The Russian Civil War.. Imperial Russian Admiral Wrangel led the defeated White Imperial Black Sea fleet from Crimea carrying his ...

Re: New Paizo SF RPG: Competitor with Traveller?

One thing I am happy about StarFinder...Next Month(sept).. the miniatures are scheduled to rollout.. Call me old fashioned but I believe that miniatures of adventurers holding laser pistols, blasters and other scifi rifles etc that go whoosh.... buzz... boom etc and the multi-tentacled bug alien of ...

Re: Alternate interstellar travel.

In case some did'not know this..starfire 2nd and 3rd edition were largely designed by David Weber of the honor verse and safehold novels fame. He wrote a series of starfire novels that are available on amazon that are pretty good space opera..even if you are not Interested in the game aspects of thi...

Re: RIP Loren Wiseman

Why my only personal contact with Loren was a few minutes at a GDW booth in the 80's, and email and traveller mailing list posts and other internet forums etc, I always found Loren to be extremely helpful, pleasant and often extremely funny and witty in some of his posts. He was terribly important i...

Re: The Royal Navy is gonna be toothless for a while...

The I.T. website, "The Register", runs the occasional Royal Navy story. http://search.theregister.co.uk/?q=royal+navy&advanced=1&author=&date=the+dawn+of+time&site=0&results_per_page=20 Hey, bringing back the Swordfish would save the RN a TON of money over the F-35's. And let's be honest, if biplan...

1. Somebody would probably discover the unfortunate way that a baseball bat applied to the side of a head is just as lethal at TL14 as in 1920s Chicago  2, The old Fed boast that nobody ever escaped Alcatraz would have 1 additional clause... Re: Is it time for the State of The Mongoose?

I would ask when a State of the Mongoose is coming, but since I see you got Traveller Items on the release schedule slipping.. I kinda infer the state of the Mongoose is this: Busy as Hell . Huffing and Puffing :( , with Bloodshot Sleepless Eyes , and Mongoose Paws  tired and aching dreaming to...
