Re: Traveller Miniatures

My preference would also be 15mm, not so much because of deckplans (although that's a plus), but because firearms ranges and non-dungeon settings are more difficult to fit on a tabletop at 28mm scale.

Re: The Ships Locker

Sure, having everything in its place makes more sense. But a single room that is a sufficiently-advanced-to-seem-magical cornucopia of every imaginable almost-but-not-quite useful item in the known universe, a misbegotten bastard child of the Tardis and that wardrobe? That's way more fun.

Re: Making the CRB more multiple-genre friendly

I don't see the harm in being explicit in the CRB that the rules can be used for different genres. In technical writing, making assumptions about what your readers should already know is a cardinal sin (and RPG core rules are technical writing).

Grav Floater

I wonder if we could have a different name for this vehicle - Grav Chair, Grav Buggy, Grav Scooter ... anything but "Floater".

Re: That magic 100 meter zone of immunity

Also a quick thought while I was writing this post. Traveller is a fairly abstract set of rules, do we need a minimum range? That's true, but in my experience a lot of situations involving vehicles include pedestrians trying to pop hatches, plant mines, etc. In other words, a disproportionate numbe...

Re: Index in printed books.

You're right. It's easy to forget about indexes when you're working with searchable soft copies, but a book just doesn't work without one. In fact, and index and a table of contents.

Not if we're aiming for compatibility with T5.

Re: Character Creation Checklist

I think one has to be really careful to make flow charts immediately and intuitively obvious, otherwise they can be self-defeating. The idea, after all, is that you sacrifice space in order to provide a faster-to-use reference than the text. At the moment I find the text faster, so I reckon the flow...

Yes, it would be nice if life events meant a bit more than just backstory. Just on an expectations level, I always thought "Life" events sounded more important.

Re: Interior Artwork

I just wanted to check whether the colours for the interior pages are what we would see on the PDF and the printed book? Generally I'm not a fan of black backgrounds with anything printed. It also makes printing out bits of the rules difficult, especially for careers which can be handy if you have a...

Re: Flow Chart & Black Page/White Text

Still finding it confusing. I'm not sure what it adds, it's easy to follow the character generation in the book util you get used to the system, after which you wouldn't need the chart anyway. Those pages would be wasted in my book if they stay. How about just making them a free PDF on the website?

Re: First Blush

I think I can wait for HG, my main concern is only that the sample ships in the core book are really compatible with HG when it does arrive. We all know the issues with the official GDW designs, pretty much none of which actually worked under the rules as published. Same for the sector books, in fac...

Re: Built-in 3rd Imperium Setting

The reason I ask is because there are quite a lot of mentions of the OTU in the rules - the 3rd Imperium text in the introduction, listing Tour of the Imperium as one of the main 'further reading' books, Aslan and Vargr in character creation, etc. There are also concrete-sounding statements in the c...

Built-in 3rd Imperium Setting

Is the plan to have the 3rd Imperium setting hard wired as part of the core rulebook? If so I would like to record a vote against this - what made MGT1 so great was that it finally took Traveller back to its generic roots, even more so than the original 3LBB version. IMO setting books should stay se...
