Re: Entry-Level Game: Legends of Adventure

As you can see I've hit on a title. I discussed "Legendary Adventures" with Matt, but it turns out that someone on DTRPG already has some Legend OGL books under that title, so I'm going with "Legends of Adventure". The aim is to be relatively generic, but somehow link it to the Legend OGL so that th...

For a basic/entry level version, I'd probably pare combat styles down to just three: Melee, Ranged, Unarmed.
If I go this route I probably won't even have Unarmed. It hardly ever comes up in my experience, so lumping it with Melee should be fine.

Re: Entry-Level Game

Thanks for the feedback, gents! This sounds like an excellent approach. I would recommend you be as vicious (!) as you can when stripping down rules, though perhaps retain individual hit locations, as players do like those. If you can strip/streamline other things you may find that extra complicatio...

Entry-Level Game: Legends of Adventure

I'm currently bashing together what I call an 'entry-level game' using the OGL Legend books. The aim is to produce a simple set of rules that can be easily picked up and played even by people unfamiliar with RPGs in general, not just percentile systems. This consists partly of stripping back the Leg...

Re: Legend OGL

Yeah, I've done a simple .docx version of the main book now, and will probably do others as I need them. It's not that much work in the end - I guess it's a kind of test to see if you're serious! :D

I may need to remove or rework a few things that were subsequently published elsewhere (even though everything in the earlier versions was technically released as OGC...)
Once OGC, always OGC, so I don't see why you should remove anything.

Oh, and I'm interested, for one!

List of Legend OGL Games

I've become interested in which games are using the Legend OGL in their products. Anyone else know of any?

Bedlam in Blackcliffe

Delta Green

Deus Vult

Eternity Realms

Historia Rodentia

Re: State of Mongoose 2019 & 2020: Legend

FUD is standard corporate practice. Spreading rumours and sending boilerplate C&D letters costs nothing but gets results (as we're all aware in this age of Facebook memes). 99% never go further because lawyers cost money and most claims are dubious at best and spurious at worst. The (real) OGL has ...

Re: Legend OGL

The project I have in mind is an entry-level D100 game, which nevertheless has enough power under the hood for longer campaigns or developing a game world from. It'll be fully OGL like its parent.

Re: State of Mongoose 2019 & 2020: Legend

FUD, that's what I was thinking of! I think we really need to push back against this tactic, because it does seem to be working on a number of gamers going by their responses on forums. Well, in any case I have lost interest in the BRP NOGL as it's plain the authors are evading all serious questions...

Re: State of Mongoose 2019 & 2020: Legend

They have clarified that the Legend OGL is perfectly valid. So what does Jeff of Chaosium mean when he said on 28 march on the BRP SRD thread: "If you think the Legend OGL is "cast-iron", then you are fooling yourself. Heck, on the face of it, the very license used is invalid."? I believe the term ...

Re: State of Mongoose 2019 & 2020: Legend

Given the unintentional publicity the Legend OGL has been getting this week, it would certainly seem to be a good time to get some books out there. What unintentional publicity? (all I can think of is as a result of the Chaosium OGL paperwork release?) I didn't want to be too specific, there are lo...

Re: Give a opinion

If A Weapon does increased damage against a specific race would it still do increased damage against Undead members of that specific race? Personally, I would say yes. A zombie troll is still a troll. There might be cases where I would say no - for example, if you use the idea that trolls are poiso...

Re: Legend OGL

No, I just use the PDF. I also extracted all the text, so I have a text version that is useful for big lifts and shifts. Same here. Someone should really convert the main open content books to a DOC or RTF, that would probably encourage more users. Well, I guess I know what I'm doing in my idle hou...

I think I'd like to do something else for Legend. Bring the game back out of its hibernation.
Would be nice, and a good time to do so now.

Re: Give a opinion

If it's based on body type, e.g. unusually fragile structure, I'd say yes as the body type will still apply to the undead. If it's based on a particular vulnerability, e.g. flammability - again, I'd say yes, unless you can find a way to fireproof the undead version.
