Re: Holi, And Other Local Cultural Festivals

For those of you who remember the (original) Star Trek episode "Return of the Archons", Richard Morey imported 'Festival' from that episode into the culture of Rethe, and wrote an adventure around it.

The article you are interested in, however, has not (yet) been reprinted in the magazine f...

[Freelance Traveller] New Feature Idea - Please Help

It's not a spoiler to tell you that the forthcoming issue of Freelance Traveller will feature three articles by Timothy Collinson, based on the premise of converting a literary fictional character into a Traveller character. This effort was well-enough done that I am specifically and publicly asking...

Re: [Freelance Traveller] November/December 2018 CANCELLED

Thank you all for your words of support following my announcement of cancellation of the N/D18 issue, and for your support by generating new articles when I requested them. I had mentioned that my father was taken care of in hospice care by Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. I recently learned that my s...

[Freelance Traveller] November/December 2018 CANCELLED

It is much against my preference, and with my deep regret, that I must announce that there will be no November/December 2018 issue of _Freelance Traveller_. The past few weeks have been a trial for me. At the beginning of September, my father was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer, and within two ...

Re: Tree and Dragon

There is absolutely no question that the Liaden Universe® is a very-nearly-ideal Traveller setting. And the more they write in that universe, the more convinced I am that someone with $ufficient Re$ources need to sit down with them, their agent, and Toni Weisskopf (their publisher) and negotiate a T...

While it doesn't generate starport facilities, you might get some ideas from my 1996 (reprinted 5/2013) Freelance Traveller article on starports.

Eras Demi ITC for me. I think I have a regular version somewhere as well.
Eras is the font for the Mongoose I titles; it was never one of my favorites - though its serif sibling, Friz Quadrata, did go through a period of heavy use in my experimentation with fonts.

Re: Optima substitute for Google Drive documents

Another font topic: What is the font in the body text of the classic Traveller books? Also Optima, or something else? If Optima is only in titles, the right Google Docs solution might be to put the title into an SVG, with fonts converted to paths. The body font for the Classic LBBs was, per LKW, He...

Re: Optima substitute for Google Drive documents

Marcellus is the least bad match I've found in the Google Fonts library. Thanks! "Least bad" is more accurate than "best", but the resemblance is good enough to get the idea across, particularly with the flared extremities of the characters. Quattrocento Sans isn't a better match than Marcellus, bu...
