Re: Viewing Traveller PDFs on an Amazon Fire HD tablet

Generally, I use a tablet when running a scenario. It works fine: I highlight important parts of the adventure and I insert some notes for myself. As for the rules, I largely prefer hard copies but when I'm looking for something very specific I might choose to research it on the pdf version (not alw...

Re: How did the K'kree ever survive?

That's a very interesting point. Given the fact that they did survive let's explore some possible answers: 1) First I would second Steelbrok on this: sure they hate all Meat-Eaters aka g'naaks, but probably not (at least at first) to the point of exterminating them all. So the little ones like roden...

Re: Ship's Locker: Out of the Closet

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. When running a Traveller game all this scientific knowledge is very handy ... and quite daunting too since it can be very technical and it's always evolving.

Re: Aliens of Charted Space Vol. 1 - It Is Here!

I'm just browsing through it aright now, but I'm seeing two issues: 1) The Pdf content table won't work; when you click on Vargr or K'kree for instance, you are back to the introduction, when you click on K'kree character in Traveller you go to page 168 (the last page of K'kree section) instead of p...

Re: Garinaembreight are tough

In Marooned on Marduk the Travellers are at a disadvantage (weapon wise) but it wasn't the case in Theories of everything and yet, they almost lost. To be honest, the scientists had poor weapons if any, and I played Garinaembreights as viciously as depicted in Marooned on Marduk. It was brutal :mrgr...

Re: Question about Stunners

Just out of curiosity, how do you deal with stunners against creatures? They don’t have stats, just hit points. The question arose yesterday, I allowed one of my player to use its stunner against a fierce creature with 29 hps and a bad attitude. I said to myself: “no reason this shouldn’t work on an...

Garinaembreight are tough

Hi guys I’ve just started a series of adventures to prepare my group (all of us new to Traveller -well, less and less actually) to the campaign “Pirates of Drinax”. I ran Marooned on Marduk and I’m currently running “Theories of everything” where our beloved Travellers are being pitched against Gari...

Re: Medical care cost

In character creation, the 5,000Cr per point medical bill is for permanent characteristic point losses. For regular healing it's probably too steep. The situation arose tonite when the Travellers had to go to the hospital: I charged 500 Cr for slow drugs +10% of the monthly pay of a medic aboard a s...

It’s funny, based on GURPS Interstellar Wars, I’ve always viewed the Vilani as being inspired by the Chinese empire.

For the time being, I'm not running a naval campaign (I'm still learning to master the rules and getting a good grasp of the spirit of the game).

Re: New Era, how accurate?

Yes, but what lead to the fall of the second imperium? If it’s not the virus, what is it? And I have the feeling that even the virus was the proverbial last nail in the coffin but not the profound reason .The first imperium lasted because of Vilani’s protocols which managed to articulate a vast empi...

New Era, how accurate?

I’m new and frantic about Traveller’s lore. I read In several sources (Wiki Traveller for a start) that the New Era’s virus wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea. Some hard Traveller fans didn’t like it. I’m reading about the Long Night, right after the fall of the Rule of Man and I am confused: in the Mong...

Re: New to Traveller... questions

1) Yep, I thought personal sensors, not starships', so IR goggles it is. 2) The thing is, Tinath is a TL6 world but Matig and Tleroti are both TL11 worlds located a couple of parsecs away from Tinath, since I suppose they trade, Tinath can have up to TL11 technology even if it would be non-standard ...
