Re: RPGs similar to Deus Vult?

At this point in time, iI think we can all agree that Legend is on indefinite hiatus, and with it one of my preferred settings, Deus Vult. :( Can someone point me out to other RPGs that have a similar tone, (pseudo)historical setting and focus? I'm a fairly busy and unimaginative DM, so having a lo...

Re: [CONAN] Thieves World!

I forgot to mention that the river forming the boundaries between Argos and Zingara is none other than the Thunder River. In fact Sanctuary (the main city where Thieves World's adventures happen) is a great setting because it is not a big city nor is it a small village. It is a strategically located...

Re: [CONAN] Thieves World!

I already thought of this setting and have even bought some books from Green Ronin Publishing (Sanctuary and the 2 modules) + 1 module from Fasa. I even intend to put Sanctuary directly on the Argos-Zingara border, where the river divides both nations. It would be a highly disputed town by both. The...

Re: Module conversion for Conan

I would never use Picts with Cimmerians though I can imagine Picts and Valusian and/or Atlanteans. Goldmoon, Riverwind and the plainsmen could also come from Brythunia or Hyrkania. Knight of Solamnia as Aquilonian or Hyborian is an evidence. But the draconian army is much easier to integrate if this...

Re: Module conversion for Conan

I never thought of it (dragonlance) but there is indeed something which can be done with it. I'd rather think of serpent men in the time of Kull. However it seems this would imply some major work to adapt it because of the magic level. In Dragonlance, some things just can get be done without magic b...

Re: Module conversion for Conan

I highly recommend the Pathfinder Adventure Path "Curse of the Crimson Throne" which integrates particularly well into the Hyborian Age. Here is the pitch: The king is dead! In the Varisian port city of Korvosa, the death of a monarch leads to chaos, and only the PCs can hope to save the city from i...

With how many litres are you soaked before going to the battle field? That's why you have more chance to splash your friends with your puke than to harm your foes with your weapon.

Re: insults 3 son of,bride of insults

Your champions are so great that they can play a hero in a movie and depart just the day before a real-life charity concert performed in his neighbourhood. Is it because it brings more money to shed a tear on a screen that you don't give a fu*k about your dead? Or is it because no fake medal is awar...

Re: insults 3 son of,bride of insults

Do you expect a reaction while you frantically shout and cry like maiden? Brain and blood and gore is the new deco but the smell is quite awful. I know that many of your kind would rather put a candle in their ass than light a candle for your dead. In the end, it seems everyone of you has its own li...

SLAINE http://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/192177554530-0-1/s-l1000.jpg Mongoose produced a Slaine RPG. It is d20 3.0 based, and there is a campaign that goes through four adventures: The Invulnerable King Teeth Of the Moon Sow The Ragnarok Book Way of The Horned God I own these, and looking through them...

Re: [CONAN] GM's Closet

I have this one. It is really great because the magic is deliberately kept at a low level (the author is professor in Scandinavian mythology). However this isn't the right cover. There is no shark in this setting. This shark cover is for the razor coast setting (it would make a great addition to yo...

Re: [CONAN] GM's Closet

THE LOST LANDS There are several adventures set in The Lost Lands. Some of the largest dungeons ever created, like Rappan Athuk, find their homes in these lands. Many are published under the Sword & Sorcery label. Most are written for Pathfinder. Now, hold onto your axe...take a breath...and look a...

Re: [CONAN] GM's Closet

De Camp wrote an excellent article about Hyborian technology in the book The Blade of Conan (Publisher: Ace), an OOP book but still quite easy to find. In this book, there is also an article about ocean trade by John Boardman. You'll also find there many other articles like Weapons of choice and/or ...

Re: [CONAN] GM's Closet

No, I was talking about converting d20 Conan into 2d20 but this shouldn't be difficult to do the reverse. I know about the ADD/pathfinder adventures and opened a thread about it. As to the comics, there an excellent source of inspiration for sure, but there is always the risks that at least one of y...

Re: [CONAN] GM's Closet

True, the D20 has lots of feats which add to the ambiance but I generally dislike the constant cumbersome calculation of bonus and malus. Moreover I don't like levels and classes which limit the development of player characters and the multi-class rules are not so streamlined. But I can understand y...

Re: [CONAN] GM's Closet

There are hit locations in the former RuneQuest (now Legend) system, so you can easily chop off an arm, or a head if you do enough damages. The armour also takes this hit location into account, which means that a bronze plate will only protect your chest and abdomen, leaving you arms and legs withou...
