SFRPG . It isn't edition-specific, or even Traveller-specific for that matter, but all sci-fi RPGers are welcome to join and discuss things. Many of us there are also experienced with Classic Traveller and will be glad to participate in Classic Traveller-related threads :) I tried sfrpg but it reje...

Battlelords of the 23rd Century doesn't have terms or the like, but does have some good growing up and adult event charts with results ranging from "Chain Smoker (5% chance of having lung cancer)" to "Your uncle owns a trans-galactic starliner company. He likes you!! You can borrow one of his Bohemi...

I wouldnt limit riding based on tech level, I doubt it'll ever die out as a form of recreation.

Personally I prefer what TNE did: it folded all Grav vehicle skills into the Pilot skill and stuck it under the Vehicle, Aircraft and Space clusters.

Here's my nomination for "Most Boring UPP" award, a world I genuinely rolled up: X000000-0 an asteroid belt with no starport and no habitation. One wonders what it was exactly that made this world the nominated mainworld of the system... Maybe that's all there is in the system. Yup, nothing in the ...

I *think* it was the Referees Guide, pretty sure the same charts were in Traveller: the New Error rulebook as well.

The old rules gave about a 40% chance of a system planetoid belts being present with a maximum of 3 belts per system, personally I just roll 1d6-2 - if its negative there arent any, if its positive then thats how many belts there are (since in the old rules was almost a 50/50 split between 1 or 2 be...

I'd just go for 16+Edu-Int, with any results of less than X (12 or 13 maybe) resulting in the character being an escaped illegal clone subject to accelerated growth and having a "physical" age of 16+d6 years.

Re: UWP: Couple of House Rules

1. Orbital Zone Expanded the Cold Edge / Habitable / Hot Edge to 5 categories, with a straight 2D roll as follows: Since you've got 2+ entries for every zone, you could have it so that one result for each zone makes it a moon of a larger planet or gas giant. 2. Travel Zones Clearly this should be G...

I think this is one instance where Traveller: the New Error got things right, if it relied on an anti-grav field to stay aloft then it was covered by the Inferface/Grav skill, which came under both Pilot and Vehicle. If I decide to use MongTrav then I'll definately ditch the Flyer (Grav) skill and h...

I actually prefer the black and red, but then my monitor doesn't understand the meaning of the word "dim" so I have a problem of snow blindness with white pages.

I do think both versions would benefit from an increase in font size however.

I'm still a little perplexed about pirate bases. Should those be privy to character/player knowledge or something the referee keeps secret and notes off to the side on my own copy of the subsector map where they are located? Personally I lean towards a mix: some bases being totally hush-hush and kn...

Should I have a game last long enough I'd certainly include the Fifth Frontier War. The Rebellion however I would probably leave up to the players: I'd throw them a scenario where they discover evidence of Dulinors plans and give them a choice over whether to side with Dulinor and keep silent, or pa...
