I read somewhere that the linked book is better than the original robots book, but I haven't read it; at this point, my info is a rumour.
Nope not a rumor, the 13Mann Robots book is much better than the Mongoose book for construction.

Re: A Traveller Miniatures Game?!!

Well, I have quite a bunch of those RAFM (and Grenadier) minis, and I can assure you they are not compatible in size with the newer "heroic" 28mm castings that have become the standard of this industry since then. I'll try to post some pics later. Yah, I know, but 28mm when they came out and 28mm n...

Re: A Traveller Miniatures Game?!!

If the new Traveller boarding action game uses that same scale, we could have the very first Aslan minis that size (you can find Vargr proxies, but finding Aslan is another matter entirely).. I have plenty in 15mm... What I could use are some Aslan and Vargr in full environment suits. But let's not...

Re: DIY advanced tech starship upgrades

In MgT2 High Guard, we have the "Primitive and Advanced Spacecraft" rules. For advanced spacecraft, you can upgrade your drives at higher tech levels to gain certain advantages. My question to the community is: Would you allow your ship's engineers to perform such work? If it makes a better game fo...

Re: Orbital Belts

This works out to 30,000 dtons for a 200 car train. Try closer to 2,600 dTons figuring on 45ft containers... In general ports in the US move around 45 million TEU equivalents per year. in rough Traveller terms that would be 180 million dTons of cargo for the USA alone. From that number one could sa...

Re: Vehicle damage clarification

But that would be going backwards... :D I still use the 1st edition rules where it was 3 damage to for each vehicle hit. I don't know what you mean by "backwards", but the 1st edition's 3 damage per vehicle hit also looks like a good way to go. It would make tough vehicles proportionately tougher, ...

Re: Vehicle damage clarification

Add +6 Armour and +6 Hull to all vehicles, and +1 Armour and +1 Hull to all spacecraft (that's +10 each on the character scale). It's easy to remember, and if you do this for every vehicle and ship stat block, it keeps their comparative defenses relatively balanced. But that would be going backward...

Re: Gauss Weapons System - Feedback?

I can say from first hand experience that the Navy (Well, the Australian Navy at least) take them very seriously as weapons for a boarding party. Clearing and crew control are jobs shotguns are perfect for in the tight confines of a ship. I can't say I'd like to have one in an open field, but their...

Re: Gauss Weapons System - Feedback?

Most modern militaries do not take shotguns seriously as combat weapons anymore No, they take them quite seriously. The are a special weapon used in a number of circumstances. Mostly centered around Close Quarters Combat. i.e. Boarding actions, close urban combat and entries is where you will see t...

Re: Missile Drive velocities

I mean if you fire a missile at a target and they run away isn't that almost as good as damage ing them. It's not like they can easily turnaround once your missiles burnout. Your not taking into account m-drives which provide thrust so long as energy is devoted to it, which means yes a fighter can ...

Re: Missile Drive velocities

I know this was debated a lot before the first book was published, but I was reading an article about Turkey's S400 purchase and the size of the launcher and missile made me think that the Traveller version is still broken - especially since we regularly have designs popping up that have starships ...

Absolutely. Have been arguing this for years - the Troupe style play is absolutely suited to Traveller.

I don't think FFE has all the MegaTraveller Alien books on PDF.
Yep, both of those books were done by DGP.

CT and Gurps are the only two that had the full range of Traveller Aliens.

All this to-ing and Fro-ing is amusing me.

Traveller has been here before.

Star Frontiers. Need I say more?

Amusing factoid about that Star Frontiers served as a Gateway to Traveller.
