Re: ACTA:Babylon 5 Consolidated Errata

I'd like to second this post: Is there an errata for P and P? As i am thumbing back through, it looks like 2 levels difference should read 3 ships, and not 4 (?). 4 is correct. The normal calculation is that 1 point of priority level X is equivalent to 2 points of priority level X+1, so it goes up ...

Re: Long Lance Suggestion

According to Wikipedia : A disadvantage of the Type 93 was that it was far more likely to detonate due to shock than a compressed-air torpedo. The explosion from one Type 93, with its heavy warhead, was usually enough to sink the destroyer, or heavily damage the cruiser, carrying it. As American air...

Re: Would it be a war-crime?

A better analogy might be the age of sail, when merchant ships sometimes had fake gun ports painted on the side to make them look like warships in the hope of discouraging pirates. If such a ship was then sunk on sight by an enemy real warship, that would not be a war crime. Back to the original que...

Re: carrier flights ?

I know for example Ark royal had swordfish and fulmars at the start of the war but how many flights of each I don't know https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Ark_Royal_(91) Aircraft carried: 70 (designed), 50-60 (actual) 1939-1940: 26 x Fairey Swordfish, 24 x Blackburn Skua 1940 - 1941: 30 x Fairey Sw...

Re: Trying to Identify a Ship

HMNZS Achilles can certainly be ruled out as she had only one funnel, even after her refit. The big gap between the forward superstructure and forward funnel threw me for a while, but if you put a big mast there then it could indeed be HMS Arethusa or another ship of the class. Allowing for the fac...

You make one roll for all the attacks from that ship on that target.

Re: Stealth

The best race to play against the Minbari are the Shadows. They're practically made for each other as each exploits the other's weaknesses. Shadows get a +1 bonus to break stealth due to ancient technology, and they have plenty of scouts as it's their only low level ship - which, incidentally, can o...

Re: Stealth

No, you only get a total of +1 regardless of how many ships have spotted the target. What you do get is redundancy. If one ship has spotted the target and is then destroyed, you don't get the bonus any more - at least, not until another ship spots it. If two ships have spotted the target and one is ...

Re: Fighter rule question for B5 ACTA

This turn only. Basically, during this turn, a fighter flight can do one thing only. If it was hoping to attack a capital ship and was jumped by fighters escorting that ship, it will spend this whole turn defending itself against that defence. Successful or not, it's busy and can't take time out to ...

Re: Which B5 ACTA Ancient do you like the best?

The mixed arcs thing wasn't too uncommon in the old AOG Babylon 5 Wars game especially with the Ancients. I haven't seen "Babylon 5 Wars", but the only ACTA version I've seen with mixed arcs is ACTA:SF. The ability of the Telekinetic Cutter to be used offensively or defensively also looks like an A...

Re: Which B5 ACTA Ancient do you like the best?

Do I detect the influence of ACTA:SF? Several ships have lost their beams, one has SF-style mixed arcs, and another has a weapon looking suspiciously like a phaser. ;) The Shrouded Saber is perhaps still too strong for Armageddon level when compared to the standard Dark Knife. The normal Ancient shi...

Re: b5:acta Powers & principalities faq?

In the absence of any other information... No, I don't think there was a FAQ. There was a "Corrections and Clarifications" document which had two items. One was about Centauri hunting packs, which were discussed on the forum and eventually discarded entirely as the Centauri fleet is already capable ...

Re: Which B5 ACTA Ancient do you like the best?

As far as rating these ships, I would rate them as standard Ancient (or 2 Armageddon). I'll see what I can do about beefing up some of them, although in the case of the Knightship with its Hardened Armor, it may be there already... Perhaps go the other way and weaken them a bit to drop them to 1 Ar...

Re: Which B5 ACTA Ancient do you like the best?

The original 2nd Edition rules for beams have them hit on 4+ and each hit re-rolls for further hits. If you do the maths, this works out as on average 1 hit per AD. The favoured alternate system is that a beam hits on 3+ but only re-rolls for further hits on 5+. This also works out on average as 1 h...

Re: Which B5 ACTA Ancient do you like the best?

You may want to reconsider the rules for the Knightship. Beams and minibeams always disregard armour; if they always use the same to-hit rolls for hull values 3 to 6 then they'd use it for 7 as well. Besides, a lot of B5 ACTA players use the alternate beam rule where a roll of 3+ hits but only a rol...

Burger's Ship Viewer is still active. For several versions of B5:ACTA, "HTML sheets" lets you print out a record sheet for a specific type of ship; "Online viewing" lets you see the ship's stats; and "Fleet Designer" lets you draw up record sheets for the fleet of your choice, picking ships from me...

Re: Looking to buy or trade B5 ACTS minis

Agent One sells B5:ACTA miniatures: http://aog.hostedbywebstore.com/ I've bought several models from there myself. Many B5:ACTA capital ship miniatures were originally produced for the older game "Babylon 5 Wars", so you'll find most of them under the section "Babylon 5 Wars Miniatures (Full Scale)"...
