Re: What's Oleb's likely response

Oleb: "Why would I buy those ships? I don't need those ships! YOU need those ships! Take them! Use them! They are my gracious gift to you! And no, I won't give you money. The deal is that you give ME 10% of the money you make with those ships."

Re: A Reasonable Fleet to crush A Pirate Base

If convinced that this is "the base", Krond would attack with his whole fleet, even if he was 100% sure the base was only defended by a single pirate with a laser pistol. Because from there, it's "mission accomplished" and he would go straight back home.

Re: How to not get spaced

If you want to be extra careful, don't take the pirate ship with you ! Jump into a civilized system with your own ship, make an appointment with the authorities, endure the interrogations, do all the paperwork (it's a lot!), register the upcoming retrieval of a known pirate ship with the system defe...

Navies tend to hunt down mutineers, if only as an objective lesson to the others.
Well. We know for sure that they didn't do that in the case of Admiral Darokyn, because Admiral Darokyn is alive and kicking in the campaign. We can even make and educated guess why they didn't.

Re: Admiral Darokyn's flagship

Much more functional design, other than the lack of common area. Where do these guys eat? 2 tons is basically a 10’ x 10’ space for the galley, eating/recreation, meetings, etc. I do it like I did in previous editions: Room for common areas is taken from stateroom and bridge tonnage. On a warship, ...

Re: Admiral Darokyn's flagship

Here's version 2 of the flagship: http://randpatrouille.de/Downloads/darokyns_flagship_v2.pdf I changed the medium for a long range small fusion bay, added a few particle barbettes and enhanced signal processing, added a hangar for a standard 20 dton launch and had enough room left to increase armou...

I suppose my specific question is “Is it good enough that I should buy it?” I’m confident I know your opinion on that question. :D
Personally, I would say "yes". :)

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

The most interesting part of the adventure is not who gets the treasure, but - if the player characters get it - what they DO with it. In your place, if my players have manoeuvred themselves into a position where they can grab the treasure without much risk or competition: I would let them have it a...

Re: New TAS Product: Fire Beyond the Border

I'm 100% sure you read the Exocet description in The Borderland : "The dominant form of life is fungus, which grows rampantly in most areas" (page 23). However, the dig site in your free preview is located in a jungle . Is this a mistake, or you had something similar to Nausicaä 's toxic jungle on ...

I wrote it. ;)

It was part of an adventure series I ran as preparation for my "Pirates of Drinax" campaign, to set the scene and populate the background with details. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask!

Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Admiral Darokyn's backstory?

Thanks for that find! That's one of the things I criticize about the campaign: The information management is awful. But in this case, it doesn't matter. A fled smuggler is to profane for my tastes anyway. ;)

Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Admiral Darokyn's backstory?

He doesn't really need to be an Admiral - the Trojan Reach is a small ship setting where a small flotilla of close escorts can be a significant force. So quite a junior officer if he managed to lead a mutiny on a single Gazelle class close escort and ended up on Theev would soon be significant play...

Re: Admiral Darokyn's flagship

Flagship implies there's a commander on board, even if it's just a squadron leader and not a fleet commander. So it needs more boats. At minimum I would put an extra smallcraft, and a spare stateroom, both for squadron commander meetings. If you're commanding an entire system, consider 1,000 dtons ...

Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Admiral Darokyn's backstory?

When one of the PCs asks one of Darokyn's officers (and it is possible that my players will agree to take one of them as liaison officer on board of the Harrier and therefore spend a lot of time with her) why they followed him, I want a little bit more than "Oh, he's really charismatic." I want some...

Re: Admiral Darokyn's flagship

What was this vessel’s intended role when it was built? Multi-purpose escort. It can keep up with the big fleets and is at least somewhat useful in capital ship engagements, while being small enough to not be a total waste of resources when used for escorting civilian merchants. The real role, of c...

Re: Admiral Darokyn's flagship

Good points!

The launch is indeed a 10 dton custom design, but I'm still not used to the +10% docking space of 2e. :)
