Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Where are the crown jewels of Sindal?
In my campaign, the the diamond-encrusted ring of Kether is on Byrni. It's a ring with a diameter of 1 meter, diamond-encrusted, glowing and antigrav powered. It floats behind the rightful leader of the Sindal empire (or his steward, or anyone who has the control box) and bathes him in otherworldly ...

Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Detailed fleet lists
Dolberg Giant psychic whales don't need fleets, but their human pets feel safer if there is one. Four planetoid monitors in the range of 30.000 to 60.000 dton orbit the planet, and around two dozen SDBs patrol the space. They have 6 jump capable (J-2) 2.000 dton patrol cruisers (plus supply vessels...

Browne
Browne could also have a big fleet, but lacking enemies, they don't have one.

Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Detailed fleet lists
Vorito From all the non-Imperial, non-Aslan worlds in the region, Vorito should have the biggest fleet. TL and population wise, they could operate a few BatRons, but sadly, they lack a starport. And they are controlled by GeDeCo; they don't want to appear too aggressive. So what do they have? First...

Re: [Pirates of Drinax] Detailed fleet lists
I have crunched some numbers for the non-Imperial, non-Aslan worlds in Sindal, Borderlands, Tlaiowaha and Tobia where my players will likely be most active. Worlds with significant fleets (= at least one jump-capable ship with some firepower) are: Vorito Browne Dolberg Pourne Ace Iilgan Oghma Clarke...

[Pirates of Drinax] Detailed fleet lists
There are abstract "fleet strength" values for some of the planets, but that's too abstract for me. Has anyone made a list of ships (including SDBs and other ships not jump capable) each planet has? My players are starting to think about playing some planets against others, and I want to handle what...

Re: Hypothetical situation
The Imperium has an interest in peaceful, prosperous worlds. They have no particular interest that those worlds uphold democratic principles. The more important the world is, the more they will get involved. The local noble will surely offer to mediate or try to help find a mediator accepted by both...

Re: [Pirates of Drinax] GeDeCo presences
GeDeCo also tried to establish a starport on Ergo, but the factions on the planet started a nuclear war over the control of it.
So far, this is the map of all the mentioned GeDeCo involvements:

[Pirates of Drinax] GeDeCo presences
Is there a list of all GeDeCo presences and projects? It would be helpful to drop little clues when the PCs visit a system where GeDeCo is/was active.

Re: Friction-powered plane
Don't today's planes often use airflow powered generators as backup power plants? This friction thing could be used in that role, if it is lighter/cheaper.

[PP] Krampus Class System Defense Carrier
The Krampus class is a 1,400 dton system defense carrier, a low cost solution to control the outer reaches of systems that don't see a lot of traffic. It is a threat even to serious pirates, while, by its numerous small crafts, is able to "be" in multiple places at once to inspect civilian freighter...

Re: ship rental - costs and problems. Do we break char gen if ships are too easy to get?
The Traveller universe runs on reputation and social standing. So to rent a starship, you not only need money, you need references. You need reputable people to vouch for you. A noble title and a TAS membership would be helpful, too. As for the original question: I don't think it breaks character ge...

Invention of Synchronised Jumps
In older Traveller versions, attacking fleets usually didn't jump right atop their target, but at a distance, because per the jump rules, the ships arrived over the course of several hours, and you want to mass your forces before you attack. Now MgT2e includes the option of "synchronised jumps", so ...

Re: Fuel Expenditure from Surface to Highport
It just occurred to me recently that the majority of the fuel in a modern-day shuttle is used breaking the planet's gravity well, which is why Highports are way more efficient than Downports for point-to-point destinations. There is a time table for surface-to-orbit and orbit-to-surface travel in t...
