Submarines are my undoing?!
With depth charges only having 3" a range (measuring from the bridge) and a rear firing arc only, I'm finding it very difficult to line up an attack on a sub with my US destroyers. Most subs are agile and have a turning score of 3 so it is very easy to manuver out of the firing range and arc of a de...

I use Panzerschiffe 1:2400 scale.
http://www.panzerschiffe.com/
They are solid one piece resin ships. Not as detailed as GHQ, but I think they work nicely. Also very affordable.
You can see pics of the ones I've painted on my blog.

I'm new to the game as well. I also found destroyers impossible to hit. I never played a night game. I would imagine that would make things even more annoying. :) Do you have the Order of Battle suppliment? It's a good book that addresses several of the issues you had with trying to hit fast moving ...

I'm resurrrecting this post because I to find the wording in OOB confusing in terms of assigning observation aircraft to ASW duties. The book states: "Ships with the Aircraft trait may assign their observation aircraft to ASW duties before the first turn, and will have one depth charge-equipped plan...

No premeasuring. What about movement?
do I need to declare how many inches my ship is going to move before using my tape measure?
For example do I have to say "My destroyer will move 4". "
Or can I simply start moving my ship around as long as I don't move it further than my maximum movement?

Well I just started Victory at Sea. I came to this forum hoping for some kind of online community, but it seems dead to me. You can see some of the stuff I've been working on here ( http://geekeguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Victory%20at%20Sea ) I'm using Panzerschiffe 1:2400 scale ships. http://1.bp...

pdf version of OOB
RPG Drive Thru offers the OOB book in PDF. I heard there has been several corrections to the book. Does anyone know if the pdf is the latest release?

Questions after my first game
Played my first game tonight. I only have the core rules and not OOB. I had a ton of fun. This game is the perfect mix of simplicity and realism (mostly). I had a Kongo class battleship and 4 Fubuki destroyers vs a New York class battleship and 4 Fletcher destroyers. Long Lance torpedos are nasty! I...

New to the game. Questions.
I want to give this game a shot. I figured I'd pickup a few figs and try a small historic battle in order to get a feel for the rules and introduce some friends to the game. I thought maybe the famous battle involving the KMS Bismark, KMS Prinz Eugen, HMS Hood, and HMS Prince of Wales would be a goo...
