Re: Point Defence
I like this, as I've had PD laser systems written up for TNE and GURPS Traveler which was then retrofired into Classic High Guard rules and even T20. However, we started at the turret level and then scaled it into full batteries of 10 triple turrets, as in Classic HG. We came up with a point defense...

Re: Meson Bays
Aye. I too was at amiss not finding the meson bays. But it seems they've been replaced by a "poor man's" version, the Tachyon Cannons. Similar principle but doesn't penetrate through all armour. It also looses its penetration ability vs. molecular bonded armour. Apparently that stuff is it's krypton...

Google X-TEK, Maximus Interstellar Defense Industries and Famille Spofulam sometime.
They were in 101 Corporations by BITS which I believe got re-published into Powers and Principalities.

The Commander Returns
Greetings! Commander X here. You may remember me from such ludicrous inventions such as the Meson Turret, the Fusion Spinal Gun, and the 50G Kinetic Kill Missile. Such was the pleasure of playesting and destroying technical architecture rules in the 90s. Remember fusion powered sub-orbital pogo stic...

Re: Aramis: The Traveller Adventure Preview
The ironic thing is that my current Traveller campaign is using Mongoose rules system with the Classic Traveller Adventure! Now it will be official. Great minds and all that, right?

I am currently running The Traveller Adventure as we speak. I run at a local game shop after the Wed. nite D&D Encounters. More often than not that means running a short 2 hour session, but somehow we manage. While I do try to keep with the overall story arc, I throw things in that are not part of t...

Ok, I've been fiddling around with the system and figured out a few things. You can start with a basic frame and add units to it so it doesn't ramp up the mass too much. So I am guessing that 2 Size 1 units != One Size 2 basic frame, these are intended to me modules after all. I use 2 size 1 units a...

Book 9: Robots Questions
Okay, I like this book. I really do. It definitely looks inspired buy the original Classic Traveller. But I do have to ask a few design questions: What exactly is a slot? A litre? 10 litres? Some fraction of a cubic metre? I'd like to know so I can place non-standard items in the bot, like weapons f...

Duke Norris Facts
This came up at my game last week. I wonder if this has already been done. Duke Norris Facts, done in the same vein as Chuck Norris Facts. Here's a couple from one of my players: - Archduke Norris once stared into jumpspace. The experience drove jumpspace mad. ... - When Archduke Norris takes an int...

Ah yes, Elite. They have an open source version of the game called "Oolite" where many player / programmers have contributed their own mods to the game. You can find Oolite here: http://www.oolite.org/ Sadly it's not multiplayer, for now... Here's a bit of trivia. My handle "Commander X" comes right...
Using the system with house rules. First, I am not a fan of the current armour values. Seem too weak, and it looks like they were the values from the original playtest draft when weapon damage was effect times some multiplier. Much lower than the multiple dice used now. Also I noticed that the value...

Went with the 'revised' armour values from this thread until recently. In the games I ran, armour was relatively useless. Realistic as it may be, I still prefer the Classic and Mega feel. So I went back and looked at my old MT. Lo and behold the armour values pretty much matched up between MT and Mo...

GURPS "Alternate-1120" Timeline In the Spinward Marches and neighboring sectors such as Foreven and Trojan Reach. It's been 10 years after the 5FW, most PC are war veterans. Some go the merc route, other are agents for hire. Most are just guys who own(in-part) a ship and just want to keep flying in ...

This has got to be the most awesome publication for MGT to date. Gear, guns and ammo. Love it all. Am I seeing a prelude of a possible FF&S for Mogoose in the not-too-distant future? Once Civilian and Military vehicles is out, I'm sure I can reverse engineer the mechanics of it! ;-) It does need a b...

It's about frakin' time... As someone who worked on the project, what was it, 5 years ago? I'm glad it finally saw print. But it saddens me to learn about what has been going on at QLI those past few years, and why it seemed as if the doors were closing on T20, which back in the day, I absolutely en...

Got mine after running by bi-weekly game at the FLGS, they just happened to have it on the shelf when I walked in. Grabbed it immediately. So far I like it, but my question is (being a major gearhead) where are the stats for a ship-mounted mining laser/laser drill? So far I assume they are modified ...

Current game has been going on since early December and involves your average motley crew of Traveller characters. We have a medical doctor who has part ownership (10 shares) of an old type-L lab ship converted into a Free-Trader/Orbiting medical facility. His friend and co-owner (2 shares) is an ex...
