Can we have carwars style please? EDIT: i am joking! 2ND EDIT: ...but then again... I did like the old Trav graph paper spaceships which nearly matched the carwars mapscapeboard. We used both for our Traverse. The carwars combat timescale would be called "bullet time" these days. Not having too much...

Yes i forgot to add metal stapled was the best binding. Easily repaired or even improved. The old books could have new bits added.

The original size of Trav was great. Went in the pocket fine could be held with one hand easily. Cross referencing books was easy too. I always thought the big hard back format was for posers. Still do.

Since none of the game has been ironed out since Old Traveller what is the point in me buying yet another variation shot through with holes? I dont have time or budget to buy them all and pull out the best bits so i'll stick with my ancient books that still work.

I think planetside cargo transport is more likely to be sailing ship and airship for ecological reasons especially on high pop industrial worlds. Otherwise some planets would not have lasted as long as they have in the present Traveller Universe and the Empire would have collapsed far earlier. Expen...

My view is seeing a rules set as a doctrine is futile. That kind of knuckle whitening grip on a games operating system is a bit silly AND it's a shame to spoil the ship for a ha'p'eth worth of tar. I wont be buying anymore game systems that are in cloud cuckoo land. Until all the holes in this Swiss...

Hello EDG. that last input went in the wrong thread and was not meant as a reply to yours. The spirit of the game way back when was invent it if you like and that was seen as o.k. by players and presenters alike. Publishers need to get back the idea of an addendum especially when the people who buy ...

Most interesting. These examples of real economics show if its broke fix it rationally. I think the old broke system of Trav planets was fun if only for finding some wild reasons for the obscure demographics. I think rationalising the Fictional economic circumstances is more likely to bring an easie...

"As to the "J1 Empire": In CT, MT, TNE, T4, and T20: the fleets of the navy are all J4-5... with a few at J6... but all the canon merchant designs are J1-J2. In General, speculation needs move no faster. And the last thing an empire wants is the public moving at comm speeds. " Given that jump speed ...

"Train is faster for long range, but costs about the same and is more hassle. " so all the trains have gone? No... because they were seen to be in the national interest. A strategic asset. It is entirely possible to make the game mechanics fit together and look good. What for? If there is no rationa...

This above all would create many more travellers interacting more often with more planets. Perfect for the Traveller game/interactive narrative.

Subsidize passenger transport. It makes more business spread further. Think of it as a tax break for small business for the good of all business.

Welcome to the jump-1 empire. Hardly Traveller though is it? Another factor is language divergence. Business is a form of communication. It requires regular nurturing. It used to be possible to travel overland from Europe to India. Its a bit too dangerous these days. A bus carries how many people co...

So I'm sitting there near the metal hut near the windsock well off the main road with my thumb out waiting for the next kind Scout to give me a lift. Why? Small ship j-3's are not as common as small j-2's... Why? the cost of a ticket is both too high and too low. The game requires small jump-2 and 3...

When it takes 1week of time and atmosphere to get 3 parsecs or 1 the only difference is fuel costs which is minimal given the profit to be made on huge ships. Moving people, which is the same as motivating business, is in the Empire's interest of expansion. It has to expand or the capitalist bubble ...
