It should be step 9 I would think, assuming that it still counts as 4 years if you have a mishap. Otherwise, it would be step 10.

Looks good otherwise! I like the compressed charts.

Re: Time for level heads to prevail

You know what? You're right. I'm tired of your relentless personal attacks against the designers, editors and other posters here and, frankly, I should have done this months ago . Go away, and don't come back. Just to make my stance on this issue perfectly clear: I have no issues with dissenting vo...

Well, just about any world is habitable if you include underground air-tight habitats. Given that criteria, Luna is just as good as Mars. For Luna, you'd have to ship in atmosphere, water and other supplies. Mars, on the other hand, would easily be self-sustaining, because the base compounds you ne...

What makes the present-day Mars Habitable rather than Inhospitable? After all, its atmosphere its so thin that you need a vacc suit to live on its surface due to the low pressure, temperature, solar radiation and lack of oxygen; habitats on Mars would have to be pressurized like ones on any other n...

My preference would be for dependent tables. For example: Table 1 is Planet Size. Tabe 2E is Atmosphere for large planets. Table 3EA is Population for large planets with no atmosphere, modified by nearness to a trade route. Table 4EAC is tech level for large planets with not atmosphere, medium popul...

Interestingly, the original Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary were so fast that they sailed without convoy protection. They could outrun any German U-Boats and commerce raiders. And history repeated itself during the Falkland Islands war. The QEII was sent without escort to get troops from England to ...

Qualifying...I did put this in feedback...

but maybe somebody can explain it to me here. There's a -1 per other career for virtually all jobs in chargen. My question is...why? "I'm sorry, we aren't interested in having you as a Pirate, you have too much experience as a Navy pilot." "Got busted out of the Marines for taking bribes, huh? I'm s...

If merchant ships can stand a chance against dedicated warships then it IS space fantasy. Not realistic at all. Miles off the realism target and therefore totally off from game I'm looking for. Dedicated warship superior to merchant. If that isn't true then game isn't even trying some semblance of ...

Wow, those two examples were excellent. Mongoose just got a new customer. :) If I were Mongoose, I'd ask to use Klaus' example verbatim, just fixing small errors (iirc, you have timing as the high die and effect as the low dice on autofire, and the 3.2 rules say the low die has to be the timing die ...

WJP: nothing like making a comment and the trying to prevent people from responding to it. I'm either going to buy the game and play Canon (with maybe a little streamlining), or I'm not going to buy the game. If I cannot play the combat system as written, then I'll buy something else. I do not know...

It IS quirky though, so do some practice fights to get the feel of it. The trick is to get them willing to do the first fight. I don't think the rules are all that complex, just written for somebody who understands RPGs really well, and it's too intimidating for them. I'm not explaining what I need...

Initiative...help me, please!

OK, I give up. I need some help. Sorry if this isn't the right place. We're getting sick of D&D, and we try to decide what to play next. One of our players says "I have all the MegaTraveller books. Let's do Traveller!" and the rest of us agreed. So, I get on the internet, and I discover that you guy...
