Re: So ... Book 18?

It's perhaps more likely that Mongoose may be mistaken completely; I'm fairly leery of the "It's our understanding..." start to the bit about Joe's Lone Wolf material. Sounds a bit wishy-washy in my opinion and may not have been something ironed out in any detail. Then it should never have been bro...

Re: So ... Book 18?

I got it from Matt's post. This part here: Megadeal Customers Some of you have uncompleted Megadeal subscriptions. Regretably, we are now unable to proceed with these beyond Book 17. After consulting with Mr Dever to find a fair resolution to this, we have both agreed to the following; *snip* It is ...

Re: Where are the Lone Wolf MPRPG books?

Matt, you already have that information. You've mailed 17 books to me, book number 8 twice. I'm tired of playing the "chase Matt" game for little dribbles of info (at best). I don't feel like doing so anymore just to give you information you already have. I don't understand what further information ...

Re: So ... Book 18?

Holy freackin' hell! Hundreds of dollars in the Megadeal down the drain. Everything I've heard about Mr. dever indicates that he's a great guy but I have trouble believing he's going to absorb the need to fulfill the remaining 15 books to the Megadeal customers. Does he even know who we are?

Re: So ... Book 18?

And May really means June or July. I'd say I was disappointed but I already said that one book a year (two if we're lucky) is all we're ever going to get. It's clear Mongoose doesn't give a rat's ass about the LW fans and customers. They blame things that never occured like "the bottom falling out o...

Re: So ... Book 18?

Updates are only meaningful when you can trust them. Three straight State of the Mongose reports have promised more LW support; it has yet to happen. I can't see how the current one is likely to be more truthful than the previous. We get "straight talk" at the beginning of every year and then nothin...

Re: So ... Book 18?

The problem with rpg's these days is that the market is almost too successful across multiple purchasing venues. There really is no 800 pound gorilla anymore; just a lot of 400 pound ones. With sites like RPGNow and DriveThruRPG offering cheaper pdf formats than buying even a softback people can be ...

Re: So ... Book 18?

Which brings up my largest concern. If the current schedule of it taking another 10 years holds true, is Mr. Dever really interested in commiting the next 10 years of his life to doing so? I don't know the man and maybe he is willing but I'm skeptical of that. I remember when these forums were a fun...

Re: So ... Book 18?

It wasn't so bad early on, though still wasn't even close to the promised release schedule (and rather absurdly re-promised two State of the Mongoose's ago). It's not just the missed deadlines that's frustrating but that they always promise news and "Expect an update soon!" but never give it (or the...

Re: Lone Wolf - New Books and Old

Wow - this whole thread has me quite worried. Back in 2007 when the Lone Wolf reprints/Megadeals were first announced Mongoose claimed that they "made enough money" on the initial Megadeal offer purchases alone to insure republication of the entire Lone Wolf line. Now we hear that they are barely b...

Re: Lone Wolf 17... Is In!

Considering the plethora of "printing issues" that seem to plague almost every LW book it seems highly unlikely that we'll ever see more than 2-3 books per year. If we're lucky, 18 is out by GenCon (August) and 19 by XMas. More likely, we'll see 18 in October or November and 19 by March or April. As...

Re: BIG Games

IMO, mega-games are only good when they feel like mega-games. High level strategic decisions are different than squad level tactical decisions but too few games reflect this. When a base representing 46 ships uses virtually the same rules as a game where a base represents one ship it isn't really a ...

Re: Quality control question for Mongoose

There's a limit to how much time and money people can devote to a game. Dystopian Wars was hugely looked forward to in my area but the quality issues killed the game. Most gamers don't have time to constantly troll forums looking to see if errata 5.54Q-13 is still valid. Errata is always expected bu...

Re: The Great Traveller Clean-Up!

I'd like to see more information in the main rulebook. The system isn't very complex and information is already spread out over so many books, and not done particularly well, that the game is feeling quite fiddly.

Re: Book 30: Dead in the Deep?

If Mongoose had kept to the initially promised schedule (6-8 weeks/book; the same one reiterated in the 2010 State of the Mongoose) we'd already be done; at least with 1-28. Even if you back that up to 10 weeks/book and drop two weeks from the year, we'd be at Book 22 or 23. My frustration comes in ...

Re: Lone Wolf 17... Is In!

I'm in Ohio and haven't gotten mine. However, the last couple of years it seems like I don't get the book, for whatever reason, until about a month to six weeks after they say I should be getting it. It's extraordinarily irritating, as almost everything has been regarding the LW gamebooks, but I've ...

Re: Lone Wolf 17... Is In!

The vast majority of the bonus adventures are totally self-contained plots that would be just fine to play alone. That said, you really should enjoy the entire book; Lone Wolf rocks! :) -A Well, I can't disagree. However, by the time my Mega-Deal order first arrived the first four books were out an...

Re: Lone Wolf 17... Is In!

Haven't received mine yet but nice to hear about 18.

One question: I had never played past Book 15 (and I'm not playing them again until I get the whole series) and I was wondering how spoilerish it would be to just play the bonus adventures. Or would they not even make sense?
