Re: Goodbye Mongoose!

whilst i can't be quite as nice as blackcat - i'm very disappointed books 29-32 remain as elusive as ever - he makes a very eloquent post. i guess it's easier to see and be the negative than the positives in things like this. always enjoyed the forum here, and people's stories of LW and what it mean...

Re: So ... Book 18?

like Clegane i paid the £300+ for the complete mega-deal when it was first advertised all those years ago. i'm going to be moving to a third (delivery) address in the space of receiving 18 books alone. even more peeving for me is that i sold my original collection of books 1-28 to pay for this! now,...

Re: So ... Book 18?

well T.Y.A. i have a 42" LARP bastard sword right here i'd be willing to come give you a (safe) smacking with if you really fancy ... it's kind of foamy and kind of latexy ... as an aside, a lone wolf LARP could be fun, i don't know if anyone has ever run one at all? my first fantasy LARP character ...

Re: So ... Book 18?

mongooseaugust - you seem to have some inside track, some line to the big cheese, maybe a fella who knows a fella who knows a fella, right? so how about i offer you some fine sausages and some tasty port, maybe a little pinch o' snuff, and you let us all know when our lovely lone wolf books might be...

Re: Lone Wolf Mega Deal

i'm a huge, huge lw fan. bizarrely first 2 books i bought were 10 and 12 way back in the late 80s / early 90s. built up everything in between and beyond, including 1st ed. lw rpg. was ecstatic when mongoose announced their plans. sold my copies of 21-28 to pay for the mega-deal. must admit been a li...

Re: Lone Wolf 17... Is In!

columbob, perhaps he is an engineer with those sort of error limits ... seriously though, it is nearly 2 months for the fellow regardless, no need to be quite so pernickity. hawkytom, if you drop the guys at mongoose an email they have, in my experience, always been polite and helpful and will do th...

Re: The Lone Wolf Mega-Deals are Back!

sadly the same thing happened to me when i bought my russian wife, damn pounds to roubles ...

erm

i mean "for the kai!" ....

in actual-ness, i actually sold my original books 21-28 to pay for (most of) the mega-deal. i think, on balance, it is probably still worth it.

Re: Book 30: Dead in the Deep?

could it possibly be that someone (agent X!) has seen the book 29 manuscript and the last paragraph has, james bond style, lone wolf will return in book 30 "dead in the deep"? ... so more a case book 29 is nearing completion? i am speculating madly here!

Re: Lone Wolf 17... Is In!

mine too arrived this morning, managed to catch the postman in the act of writing his 'you were not in' note and prevent him running off to the depot with my shiny new lw book ... not had a chance for a thorough read through, and always scared to do so in case one finds a typo / cock-up etc (sorry m...

lobocastle - doesn't that skew it somewhat though, since a d10 has a 10% chance of each number, whereas 2d6 has a more varied distribution (eg: approximate 3% chance each of a 2 or a 12, compared to approximate 17% change of rolling 7) - or do you take this into account? a d12 has a more similar pro...

woot! my copy finally arrived in a frankly huge box, which my local postie didn't even try jamming through the letterbox, so after a 4 mile cycle to the depot i finally have my luscious, thick book 15 ... anyway, for those that may wish to know, the bonus adventure (highlight to read) concerns capta...

i think i'm going to wait to get these - not because i don't want them, its just having been done for £300 for the megadeal and the subsequent quality issues, i'm going to wait what people think of them / report glaring errors first ... it's a bit sad it's come to this, here's hoping to a trouble-fr...

shiny shiny book 13 ...

... has just been hand delivered to me by a butler on a red cushion (erm postman with a red nose), a very quick flick through shows no obvious cock-ups (i checked the spine spelling) but i'm sure the pedants will find 'em :D edit: i think deliverance is still described the old way eg: when CS falls ...

i think the latest planet mongoose post helps explain it all a bit more :D http://blog.mongoosepublishing.co.uk/ reminds me a bit of the original fighting fantasy rpg (and advanced ff ... remember running them at school, so easy to keep the players happy by giving them a magic axe or two ... the mov...

agree with the posters here, the errors are starting to get a bit annoying .. i mean getting the spine wrong ... a mate of mine did that on the rough version of his thesis, as well as give the printers one chapter upside down ... luckily they spotted it and phoned him to ask if that's how he really ...

it's been so long since i loked at books 21-28 ... and, in a moment perhaps of weakness i sold all my copies (mostly to fund the mega-deal i might add) ... still would be nice to get 29-32 just to see how the saga ends ;-) on a slightly different note, and my apologies if this has been asked before,...

Books 8 and 9 in my cold, clammy paws ...

Both books got delivered to my work address this morning, and book 8 in particular appears to have a bumper bonus adventure. also got a natty traveller bookmark ... both look good, well bound etc, not had a chance to delve into the guts but ... i-don't-think-they-are-spoilers-but-others-might warnin...

bit late of the mark ... i'm a huge LW fan, got all the gamebooks, novels, magnamund companion, greystar, duvet covers etc ... in my (very) humble opinion the legends of lw books started ok, but rapidly went off on one, and totally lost the plot. i'd stick with the canon gamebooks meself. i just hop...
