Re: Family Pic: Free Far And Fat Trader

I really like the Fat Trader, but the Empress Marava is too thin and squarish, it's a two deck design after all. I'm more used to something like this: http://i43.tinypic.com/ffbat2.jpg , although the overhead spoiler is way over the top... The Fat Trader doesn't live up to its name, it's very sleek...

Re: A few points regarding 2e so far.

I havent realized the prices of the PDF copies are so high, but on that note does Mongoose still do the Bit and Morter system where if you buy a hardcopy you get a pdf for free? I ask as I am still interested in this 2nd edition, but due to life finances are not what I wish they would be for allowin...

Re: Computers.....

I always chuckled at how Science Fiction games, books, and shows showed computers of the future being huge monsters of machines, when like in reality the size of the computer should be getting smaller. I do believe that a ships computer on traveller should only take up space for the actual screen an...

Re: Silencers

I also believe that it should be called a Suppressor in the book instead of a Silencer, we should be using accurate names for items. In description it can be called a Silencer as that is a common name for the item while it is not a correct term exactly. And please make a note soemwhere that they can...

Re: Max skill ranks

Is it still open for discussion? I know with the cap not counting the zero level skills I would like to see it lowered to 2(INT+EDU) as well. Anything is still open for discussion, that's what this section of the forum is for. Doesn't mean it will change, but things are still open to change. From w...

Re: Question on characteristics rolling

I was asked by my players about using a " 3d6 drop the lowest " process rather than the standard 2d6. If we do, I realize it will skew the average higher. Before I allow it, I was looking for input from anyone who has already done so. Did it have a major or minor impact on the game? Did it even mat...

Re: Artificial Intelligence

As I recall, Dredd was an extrapolation of Thatcherite England, though the high unemployment was probably a prevailing mood existing before that. It was a satirical comic book. If there were seven trillion robots on Earth as smart as humans and as capable, then every human being could be rich! I th...

Re: Expanding Traveller's Audience

Artwork for ships can be a very big boon to gather players, if stuff looks cool they will attempt to read what is there so they can figure out what the ship does. When I first started playing Traveller back in the school days in the very early 80's I loved the Empress Class merchant, ya it wasn't fa...

Re: Space Romance Movies

Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone falls in the '80s style of Traveller that so many old fat dudes with fanny packs play still. I've refused for decades to ever be in such a game. I'd rather play in any d20 system game (excluding T20 which is the worse edition of Traveller ever) than be ...

Esp when they are firing crazy inaccurate nukes like that, it should have been called the Wile E. Coyote. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3d0OsPeri6A/UKCGgMnw-pI/AAAAAAAAAfA/uixzDCl4yBc/s1600/Wile+E.+Coyote3.jpg I do not think any solder from North America would be dumb enough to actually fire any weapon...

Re: My Really Big Starship

At about 1 million dtons I do not think many folks would attempt to board her, the crew size requirements even if unarmed would wipeout a boarding party wearing battledress just by swarming. Now if it is derelict that is a different story as everyone will board it to try and claim salvage.

All other sites I go to have the correct time. I've cleared my cache and cookies, but the issue remains...

I do not know of any deckplans for it, I believe the crew and passenger section is the same as the standard Far Trader, with extended cargo section and larger dMay have an extrra stateroom or tworives, Jump, Manuever, and Power Plant. It may have an extra stateroom or two but I think it was created ...

Jump Sickness. Jump sickness is usually checked for during jump space entry to and jump space exit. In the case of an accurate jump, sickness is checked for after the ship emerges from jump space. In the case of an inaccurate jump, the check is made 1d6 minutes before jump space emergence. There ar...

Didn't they have Jump Nets in CT, that you can shove stuff in attach to the jump ship and jump with the extra stuff outside of the ship. At reduced jump of course.
