Re: WW1

The Royal Sovereign with a total displacement of 14,150 long tons which is the weight of the water it displaces. This equates to an approximate volume of displaced water of 35 cubic feet (close enough to 1 cubic meter of water) per ton so the ship actually displaces (assuming 14 cubic meters of hydr...

Re: WW1

Totally forgot about the armour belts on these ships! So not just the guns but the arbitrary armour limits. In this regard I think the old TNE Fire,Fusion & Steel I might be better. If the armour can fit in the available space then it is acceptable. The limit then comes from trying to get everything...

WW1

I have been going through the Traveller Vehicle Handbook. I have been able to reproduce the TL4 Terror-Roc patrol fighter (the illustration is a large biplane) which based on the tech descriptions is late nineteenth early twentieth century, though looking at the Liberty class ironclad this goes back...

Re: Modular hull question

My idea of the modular cutter was something like Thunderbird 2. This style would take into account the increased hull cost (to account for the module lifting and dropping equipment). It also has a large hole when no module is attached. Some cutter designs I have seen had the strut connecting the fli...

Adjusting Speed and Range for Vehicles

Just a quick question. If I adjust the speed band of a vehicle, either as a result of a trait such as AFV or because I want a slower or faster vehicle is this also supposed to effect the range the vehicle is capable of or is this adjusted independently?

Re: Air/Raft spaces

I remember an old cartoon which showed the Kinunir racing for a starport. The caption went along the lines of an Imminent Rule Change. :D

Re: Air/Raft spaces

Sounds promising, an enclosed version would be more useful. I just keep picturing the brave adventurers out in this having forgotten the soft top/canvas when it pelts down with rain.(Perhaps that is where the empty space went, a folded up canvas or similar roof and sides?)

Re: Air/Raft spaces

If you increase the armour to 6 which matched the version in the first editions supplement 5/6 the space gets swallowed up while the price still remains in the range of that given. Though it can still carry a couple more people than the earlier version. An alternative would be to give the driver 2 s...

Re: Air/Raft spaces

There does seem to be an error with the Navigation System. The basic navigation system lists a DM of +1 but the vehicle description has no DM listed for navigation.

Air/Raft spaces

Looking at the air/raft in the Vehicle Handbook I tried to recreate it to make sure I was getting the sequences correct. The problem I cam up with is I assume the air/raft has 8 spaces but have only been able to fill 7, Driver and 5 passengers 6 spaces and cargo (250kg) 1 space. Does anyone know wha...

Re: Low tech ships - Need help

In one game I played the power plant was almost out of fuel. The players tossed bodies into the fuel purification plant which extracted hydrogen and sent this to the power plant. Based on other sets of rules any chemical plant could use hydrogen instead of distillates etc, but the hydrogen had a muc...

Re: HG2 Missile Launcher Clarification

Of course what would be ideal for me would be a way of using all the vessels I designed with Fire Fusion and Steel 1 with Mongoose. But I thought I would see how Mongoose's HG2 went. What I found was with the lower tech craft such as a TL9 heavy fighter using reaction drives, the Mongoose version wa...

Re: HG2 Missile Launcher Clarification

I think that clarifies things in my mind, so really 4 missiles to a firmpoint regardless of mount. It does sort of imply though that the upgrade single turret mounted on a firmpoint is not the same as a standard single turret.

Re: HG2 Missile Launcher Clarification

Thanks for that but it does beg the question as to whether it is worth upgrading to a single turret. Obviously the turret can be rotated but is it necessary for missiles to be pointed towards their target when fired since this will move anyway? (Does the combat system mention this for missiles and t...

HG2 Missile Launcher Clarification

OK I am doing a TL9 fighter of 50dt. So 2 Firmpoints. Can someone tell me if I am interpreting this correctly. I can put a missile rack on each firmpoint giving 4 missiles on each (8 total) or upgrade each firmpoint to a single turret each containing a missile rack which can hold 12 missiles for 24 ...

Re: Removing Hardpoint Limits: Necessity or Heresy?

The original version of the Gazelle had four hardpoints on a 300dt hull. The missing 100dt came from the drop tank, but when this was dropped you still had 4 hardpoints on the remaining 300dt hull.

Re: FTL starship today

In my Core Worlds Campaign I make use of what the locals call a Hyperspace Translation Drive, basically a hyperspace driver capable of 1ly/day. Though the ships were designed using TNE's Fire Fusion and Steel I am toying with the idea of using HG2 and MT2 to redo this universe. The maps are also 3D....
