Re: A New Edition of Traveller

Ooh, I like what I'm seeing, so far :) You will be able to dive into the new Traveller with the Beta Rulebook PDF. It will be a mere $20 on DrivethruRPG and we’ll return that $20 to you in the form of a voucher when the final Core Rulebook is released in early 2016. Is that $20 off the completed PDF...

Re: Traveller Core Rulebook Image

when we played FFG Star Wars it felt just like most other RPGs we have played (and we have played quite a few games since the early 80's). It'd be cool to see if you had a video of it. No - it would never occur to us to video our game sessions. Part of me is curious to understand what you mean by i...

Re: Traveller Core Rulebook Image

FFG Star Wars is more like a boardgame, but without a board, when compared to tabletop RPGs. Just watch any game of it being played. Apologies for picking out just this one comment, but we didn't experience this - when we played FFG Star Wars it felt just like most other RPGs we have played (and we...

Is there a PDF option? I couldn't see one, and it seems silly to pay international postage for CD-ROMs.

Re: Future Traveller - Suggestions Appreciated

If it is just some gaming aids your talking about, people have done it on their own but they can't share because of licensing. Chargen, ship building, random encounters, subsector generation and so on. Why not start by looking at what others have done and offer a way of getting peoples software out...

Re: Comment on the State of the Mongoose

Cross platform, java or similar, open source so it can be maintained by volunteers and hobbyists into the future. There are a bazillion people out there that would/could do it, but choose carefully. Very wise words. The architecture should be as open and standard as possible - java, xml, etc. - and...

Re: Comment on the State of the Mongoose

What would be worth a Kickstarter, would be to make an all digital software version of Traveller - so that you could generate characters, starships, worlds and systems all with a computer or tablet. If they can raise enough money, it could be made really slick and stylishly with graphics for starsh...

Were you the gentleman who offered to take the cloaked Romulans out of the display cabinet for me to get a better photo? If so, thank you.

Literally typed "Traveller 5th Edition" but it wouldn't find the damn topic!

Re: Traveller 5th Edition

What I fear is that if this becomes a reality, Miller will stop Mongoose from making more books, making his the only version available. IIRC, Marc Miller & Mongoose renewed their license agreement recently. I would be surprised if Matt agreed to it having an exit clause that allowed Marc to unilate...

Cheapest option to get the rules is $100 (actually, $140 inc shipping for me). If there's a PDF option, I might go for it, otherwise I'll just wait to see what appears in my FLGS.

I'll answer the easiest question, and leave others to give their opinions on the others ;)

The errata is on the product page for the rulebook:

Yep, a camera stand will allow you to use a narrow aperture (greater depth of focus) with the corresponding long shutter speed without getting blurry pics. Keep us updated. :)

Re: To the expert photographers out there:

You've had some good replies already, but I thought I'd add my 2 pence :) For small, static scenes like a miniature, you will get the most consistent results with a tripod, manual exposure and manual focus settings. You can experiment, changing one variable at a time, and immediately see the results...

Re: All Hits go to the Head...

Years ago, I ran a Harnmaster Campaign for a while, which, if you aren't familiar with it, has a more detailed hit location chart and one of the characters would invariably, seemed like 2 out of every 3 hits, get nailed with a groin shot. No one else, just him, and to add insult to injury, I starte...
