Re: Trojan Reach World Profiles (UWP) Discrepancies

FWIW, for my campaign I'm going to be using the poster map -- once the printed version arrives (I see it's now been pushed back to January, grrrr) -- as the point of reference for the players. Thus the UWPs on there will represent the basic data they are getting from their ship's computer library da...

Re: Do you allow psionics?

For those that do use psionics, how do you have it play out in your campaigns? For example, does the psion have to concentrate, maybe close their eyes? Do you allow certain things to get passively triggered (e.g., the psion is instinctively aware of someone else having a PSI score), or does the abil...

Re: Refereeing a climb down a cliff

To be fair to Mongoose, their rules on task checks opens with "Most actions undertaken by Travellers do not require a skill check. A player does not have to roll Athletics to run through a forest, or roll Electronics (computers) to access information from his ship’s library." I would include climbin...

Re: Pirates of Drinax: GM questions

Not sure it counts as an alternative entrance, but to get my group connected to the Drinax court, I had them encounter Princess Rao on another system and sort of involved in rescuing her. As they were already wanted by the Imperium -- along with a couple of other bounties on them -- she decided they...

Re: The Sindal Fuel Dump (some spoilers)

That makes it 2000 credits per ton shipped, according to the core book page 207. Ah, right. I'm a bit slow on the uptake. Didn't realise you were talking about freight costs (even though that's what you said :D ). Yeah, if the fuel dump was set up by paying standard commercial freight costs then Cr...

Re: Pirates of Drinax: GM questions

The other odd thing to realize is that Krrsh is picked up in the Borite system and talks about a hidden fuel dump, that is 2 Jumps away. This is glossed over in the module, but the players are looking at a Jump to Noricum, refuelling and then jumping to the fuel dump, refuelling and then jumping to...

Re: Pirates of Drinax: GM questions

I always ran the world as something akin to a Barbary kingdom, an Algiers in SPAAAAAACE, a world whose survival depends entirely upon exacting of tribute from traders and active state involvement with piracy, which survives because those who oppose it cannot or will not, for whatever reason, smash ...

Re: The Sindal Fuel Dump (some spoilers)

Delivering a ton of frieght (the fuel) is 1000 credits for the trip to the fuel dump. Hi PsiTraveller, How do you get that figure? Sorry if I am missing something obvious. Then you add in the cost of the fuel at normal prices, that makes it 2500. If it was the lords of Theev, GeDeCo, or some other ...

Re: Refereeing a climb down a cliff

Along the lines of other suggestions, present a mini-encounter on the way down, so that it's not just a repetitive athletics check. For example: - a third of the way down, the climber disturbs an insect nest. Or some flying creature thinks the climber is after its eggs. - a section of the cliff face...

Re: Pirates of Drinax: GM questions

Next question ahead of my next session is on the nature of Theev. On the one hand, a few mentions of Theev suggest that its very existence is not very well known. - Drinax vol.1, page 6 (Rumours of the Reach) includes the following rumour: 'Any pirate who reveals the jump co-ordinates of Theev...': ...

Re: The Sindal Fuel Dump (some spoilers)

I'm glad you've raised this. My players are at the point in the first Drinax adventure where they will make use of this on route to Theev in the next session, and just based on the description in the Drinax adventure did not think of it as being as a fuel station as such, where they would have to pa...

Re: Pirates of Drinax: GM questions

A belated thanks for the responses. I had figured on the plan being a crazy one, but more because of the ambition of it rather than inherent contradictions in the logic, so am grateful for the ideas on resolving those.

Pirates of Drinax: GM questions

My Drinax campaign kicks off tomorrow, so I thought I'd start a thread to post the inevitable questions that arise. I've already circulated background and introductory information to the players, and we're really looking forward to playing this. I'm a little daunted by running a sandbox campaign, so...

Re: Radiation Trait?

A house rule I'm thinking of is that ship armour adds to radiation protection at the rate of 100 per point of armour. This is in addition to the base rate of 500 (or 1000 with radiation shielding). So, an off-the-shelf far trader would have 700 rads protection. Still not enough to stop the crew gett...

Would GeDeCo not provide some kind of protection agreement for systems it has provided starports for?

Re: Life support costs

My understanding (from CRB p.145) is that each stateroom costs Cr1000 per month, plus Cr1000 per person per month. So double occupancy costs Cr3000 per month.

That represents basic meals, though, so if crew want more than Spartan food then it'd be more.

Copying this post to this thread, where it's more on-topic: Advanced sensors include densitometers and NAS. CRB says that, when close enough to provide full details, these sensors give (for densitometers) "fine details" and (for NAS) "individual brain activity". For densitometers: What does "fine de...

CRB says that, when close enough to provide full details, these sensors give (for densitometers) "fine details" and (for NAS) "individual brain activity". For densitometers: What does "fine detail" mean? every nook and cranny in a ship will be seen? yo...

Re: Pirates of Drinax: Harrier Commerce Raider

Thanks Matthew, but that's what I mean - in the supplement there is now less to repair, just more detail to the repair procedure itself.

So I was wondering if there was a play-test rationale to it.
