Re: Character Generation Worksheet

I am doing a review of mine and I will see if it is okay to post. I hope to try this weekend. Sorry, Real Life (TM) has gotten in teh way.

Re: Is Gravity really a force, like e.g. magnetism?

Go check this out. It is a nice, easy to understand video talking about the four fundamental forces of nature as we know them today. Two of them, gravitation and and electromagnetism, have been known for a rather long time. The other two, the Strong Force and the Weak Force, were discovered in the 2...

Character Generation Worksheet

I found that with some of my players who have never played Traveller before, they could really use a character generation worksheet, taking them step by step through character generation. I also gave them a big sheet of skills, so that they could just add a mark or alter their skills as we went thro...

Re: Discuss the State of the Mongoose 2014

One of the things that caught my eye in the State of the Mongoose is this: The overall aim is to vastly improve both the presentation and playability of Traveller, switching from doing 2-3 ebooks every month to producing one printed book every 2-3 months. This will be accompanied by a major change (...

Re: My Type S Scout/Courier deckplans

Those look great! I've been thinking of making my own for some time, but now that I see these I am beginning to question my decision. I would be interested in seeing the text translated (as my Italian is nonexistant!). I am also thinking I need to contact my source with the large format printer...

it seems the entire Offtopic forum is being polluted by the user Dalinapa. At least two pages, possibly three of junk.

Backbone of Society Question

In the Life Events table in Book 10, entry 54 reads: Relationship: A relationship deepens; a mere friend becomes a Significant Other. See ‘Friends and Family’ in the chapter ‘Backbone of Society’ below That chapter, and the section mentioned, does not seem to exist. Is there anything that is mention...

Re: Book 10: Cosmopolite - Now on Drivethru

I know I am a little late in commenting about this book, but I just got a copy. The content of the book looks interesting. It looks like it will expand on character creation for both Citizen and and Scholar careers, and the expanded Life Events Table will, I am sure, contain all sorts of twists and ...

Re: Weapons Playtest - Second Round

In the weapons list there is listed a Gauss Flamer. Try as I might, I just can't wrap my brain around this one. It is a high damage weapon (5D+6 Flame), which is nice, but I can't figure out how it works. Is it needle slugs that burst into flame when they strike? Is it some kind of odd white phospho...

Re: Rules questions (Errata?)

On page 15, regarding Scouts, it says that detecting a ship with the Stealth trait would increase the Stealth score by one for the remainder of the turn. Shouldn't it be decreased? It does not make sense that detecting a hidden ship would make it harder to hit. A ship with a Stealth Score of 4+ whe...

Rules questions (Errata?)

I have a couple of questions that do not seem to be answered by the errata or FAQ, so I am hoping I can get some clarity here. On page 8 of the rulebook, the example of Critical Hits seems to be in error. It says that a ship with 2 critical hits on the Dilithium Chamber would suffer 4 extra damage. ...

Re: Information Points

Aye, they're the sort of thing that is useful in narrative scenarios or campaigns, but they don't have any impact in stand-up fights. They're used in the victory conditions for the scenarios Explore a Strange New World on p.29 of the rulebook and Recon Run on p.30. Ok, that makes sense. I had not g...

Information Points

I recently purchased the rulebook. While reading it, on page 17, it talks about Labs. There it says that Labs can be used to gather Information Points about another ship. The tricky part is, I have not seen anywhere that tells what these Information Points do. Can anyone help me with this?

Re: Which 3 Traveller versions do you like, or want to play?

I own and am interested in playing T5. Yes, I know that puts me in a tiny minority here. I will play Classic Traveller at the drop of a body pistol. Been playing it since 1979, don't see me stopping. I will also be willing to play Mongoose Traveller. I own it, just never played it. I keep defaulting...

Re: Would you buy prepainted minis on ebay

For me painting your minis is like building your lightsaber if you're a JEdi, an integral part of your training. Unless you are like me, who is rather allergic to just about every paint out there short of water colors and tempra paint. At that point, I would just rather have someone, anyone, paint ...

Re: Star Frontiers conversion

I agree with the majority here that getting an official conversion published would be difficult, not impossible, but difficult. However if you wanted to create a conversion and post it up somewhere for free, I don't see that any IP holder could say much. I've seen mods for dozens of games posted in...

Re: 400 ton J-2 design

I imagine this is just me nit-picking, but I believe your spreadsheet rounds in such a way that while the totals might equal 400 tons in the background, on the sheet I can only count 399 tons.

Re: Master Skill List

That's true. And of course I wouldn't be in this forum if they hadn't given me a free Judge Dredd RPG pdf. I guess I'm just disappointed that it stops there. If something like a master skill list can't even be published to benefit the users of the system, even though they themselves show no sign of...

Re: Future Traveller - Suggestions Appreciated

We want to replace books, pencils (and maybe dice - maybe not) and character sheets with laptops, tablets and smartphones and, in doing so, utilise the technology on hand to make the experience better. For me especially, and for a vast majority of my gaming group, this is exactly what I do NOT want...
