How NASA Reinvented The Wheel - Shape Memory Alloys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lv6Vs12jLc The All Terrain Vehicle could have options. One of my good friends from College got his PhD doing some of the initial research into this stuff for aerospace applications! :) Think Ailerons and Speed Brea...

Re: Could it end his career and is it unitentional treason?

Using US definitions of Treason - there can be no such thing as "Unintentional" Treason - treason can only be committed during a declared war, by knowingly and actively aiding the enemy. Find another crime to charge them with - Attempted Murder - Threatening the Life of the Grand Poobah, whatever, b...

Re: Fleet combat?

I ran a campaign several years ago, before HG came out. I didn't use any grander mechanics than the Core Rulebook. As the Referee, I decided how the overall battle was going to go. If I needed to, I rolled a couple of dice to give me an indication of who was lucky. All of the PCs were on a single Cr...

Re: How does the patrol corvette land?

Since it used an interialess gravitic drive, it can hover in place, so it just maneuvers over the landing pad, hovers and then lowers slowly into position.

The streaminling and fins etc. look cool and all, but are really only needed for high-speed atmospheric maneuvering.

Re: Who are the aliens in DA01 ‘Shadows’?

While certainly not in the mind of the writers, given what was published later about the Zho Coreward Expeditions, and this race coming from the core, perhaps this would work. The Shadow-aliens were a race encountered by the Ancients as they explored Coreward. 50K years ago, all that is left of that...

Re: What skills have you dropped?

I have almost always dropped the Navigation skill for space travel. It is not needed for normal-space travel as we can do it now with computers, so it is trivial and does not need to be a skill. Jump travel isn't about Navigation it is about Engineering and knowledge of the gravity wells at the targ...

Re: How many skills to describe a competent character?

I use the EDU characteristic for the "mundane" stuff of a society. Need a roll to see how much they remember about the history of Premordiala III - EDU Even basic computer operations is handled by EDU. Computer skill is only needed for programming, hacking, and all that fun stuff. A decent EDU makes...

Something more about wafer jacks, Neural Comms, and Neural Links. Implant stuff seems to be very under-represented given the obvious utility, and its well accepted presence as indicated by Agent of the Imperium. Agreed. MindJammer Traveller has a lot of good cyber stuff in it, but it is very specif...

Re: Is SOC per society?

You assume someone with high social standing is popular, never heard of an unpopular tyrannical king? Lets say this king is overthrown by revolutionaries, and those revolutionaries want to kill him to cement their power, so the king tries to escape, and finds an old peasants home, can the King use ...

Re: High Guard 2e - Solar Panels

Solar panels still can only convert as much energy (solar wind or light) to electricity as is available. Both the solar wind and the amount of light follow the Inverse-Square law as they expand out from the sun.

Re: Constructing Deck Plans Oddity...

An unwritten rule has been "within 20%". Most deck plan makers have used as much as 20% over listed tonnage to allow adequate corridors and access space around the components. It's not official, but if you are within a couple of squares, don't sweat it. There are a lot of things that are not account...

Re: Ready Player One Map

Each Face of the cube could have a different Theme. SCIFI Fantasy Superhero Historical Non-Human ??? You could use either the same game rules - Traveller, D20, or D100 would all work well - D20 and D100 would work especially well as many of those generas have already been published. You don't even h...

Imperial Nobles deal with non-Nobles/Non-Imperials all the time, this would be no different.

They would get on with the surrender.

Never.

He must fight every person who ever challenges them, even little kids and animals. To do anything less would be such a disgrace that he would be forced to commit public suicide.

Not unprofesional at all.

Every single intelligent person in the known universe would hail him/her/them as a hero for standing up for their principles. They would then go into politics and be elected as the next Emperor of the Universe - Every single time.
