Re: GRAV plates and Grav Pong

The distinction between an Inertial Compensator and Grav Plates is something that I use - obviously Traveller has not provided that level of detail in MGT. I see the IC as being the unusually low (imnsho) acceleration rates of the M-Drive. 6G's from TL8-15 makes not logical sense without SOMETHING h...

Re: Droyne Sport

To clarify above. ONLY STR is rolled on 1D6, all the other characteristics are rolled using 2D6. I would actually like to see this changed though. Give the Droyne the "Small" trait and adjust their characteristics per that Trait (1D6 STR, but 3D6 Dex). I think it is a much better fix. Also, I would ...

Re: GRAV plates and Grav Pong

Thinking about this as a Starship Designer, I would have a LOT of failsafes in my gravity system to ensure this kind of event doesn't happen. My grav plates would have an internal battery backup so that when power is lost, the gravity slowly drops to zero over a couple of seconds, not all at once. T...

Re: Misjumps by fleets?

I would say it depends. The Jump is really several parts, IMTU, only the Navigation check would be the same. SO an individual ship might have an unexpected power surge and misjump, but the fleet wouldn't be affected. IF, you use con-joined Jump Bubbles or something like that, then what effects one e...

Re: Should I try to stop her?

Your universe, do what you want.

If she is the Referee, it is her call, not yours.

If you are the Referee and are being helped. I would lean towards letting it happen, but then... maybe they aren't allies...

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it unless they try to sneak in another listed Component.

Our Common area can also be a Lab!

Let them do what they want and have fun with it.

Re: I'm having a problem with the asteroid belt mining rules

Okay. So I started over from the beginning and found a 1,000,000 Ton asteroid composed of Dense Materials (including metals). The Yield is 32%, so 1,000,000 Tons x 32% = 320,000 Tons. I'm assuming Type D material is Dense Metals on the commodity table (I'm not really sure because the rules don't re...

Re: Questions on hull configurations

The USS Enterprise and other Star Trek ships are Close Structures as well. One possible shape (there are others) is multiple hull shapes held together. So the Enterprise with the Saucer, Main Section and Engine Pods could be considered a Close Structure. The Star Wars Destroyers are a Wedge design, ...

Re: State of Legend

Personally, I don't expect Mongoose to support this system. If they do, fine, if not, that's OK too.

The entire system is SRD now, so I don't NEED Mongoose. I can publish my own stuff and keep the system alive that way.

Re: House Rules: Additional Jump Drives

I have allowed several variants like you describe in my games at different times. One I particularly liked that you don't mention, works with the old LBB system, but not HG. Double Drives: You can mount more than one drive (different drive letters) and combine their effect (maximum is still 6). This...

Re: Is TAS dead?

I published one adventure via TAS. Unfortunately without the ability to advertise it, it was my lowest selling Traveller product.

I will not be writing any more under TAS.

Re: Modular hull question

How fast is the Moon moving? It went interstellar and trans parsec in a relatively short time. In the second episode it went through a wormhole, which allowed it to leave the solar system and then travel faster. I don't think they ever say how fast the moon is moving, but it only spends a few days/...

Re: Low tech ships - Need help

Easy way to sidestep some of these restrictions is to build a flap top in space. Mechanical elevators can bring a ship inside or take the craft to the external flight deck. The ship would then land or take off by itself. Antigravity would provide the small craft with the ability to be part of the o...

Re: Modular hull question

I think one of the confusions that come along is the definition and use of the word MODULAR and whoat it means. You can have a MODULE, which is a container that can be moved around. I think most of us understand what these are, freight cars, semi-truck trailers etc. They come in a variety of sizes. ...

I always thought that Anti-Matter Iron (OK, call it Nori) would be an effective form to store it in. Dense but magnetic which makes it easier to manipulate and isolate.
