Re: Cepheus Engine

Short Answer: I can't say Traveller because it is trademarked, and I could be sued by either FFE or Mongoose if I did so. In building the SRD, I gathered all of the Open Game Content I could find that fit my vision of a CT- inspired retroclone, and using my 3 LBBs and Supp4 to guide me,, I came up w...

Re: Looking for a setting

I would also humbly offer up the Azri Drakara setting for your consideration. You can easily start with just one book in the series, Flynn's Guide to Azri Drakara: Rodan Subsector . (You can find a review here .) If you want a better overview of the entire sector and the direction I intend to take i...

Re: Quick Analogues for Traveller Races

Personally, I would use Ferengi for the Vargr, given the emphasis on Charisma and personal success.

Hope That Helps,
Flynn

Out towards the rim of the Milky Way galaxy, a thousand parsecs away from Old Earth, far from that little yellow sun called Sol, lies a region of space known as the Azri Drakara sector! Favorite Challenge Magazine Adventure?

Good Afternoon, All: Long time, no see/no hear. :) I hope everyone is well. I had a quick question (as I'm looking for inspiration for some Traveller One Shots this year), and I'm hoping you can help me out here. For those of you who have played Traveller adventures in the old Challenge Magazine by ...

Is There Interest In A Traveller Patronage Project?

Good Evening, All: I have been reading recently on the concept of Patronage Projects, as first brought about by Open Design. For more information, please check out the following link: http://www.koboldquarterly.com/k/faq It's a very interesting concept, and I admit I'm surprised that no one has sugg...

I'll offer the Centurion, from the title of the Roman military officer that leads 100 soldiers. (The tie-in between the tonnage and the number of men was what drew me to the name.)

If I can get enough together to write up a follow-up to this, I will. I may only gather enough material to create a small PDF, though. We'll see. I imagine there's stuff I can do with magical Traditions, as well as the Occult and Paranormal here. Hmm... let me ponder this a while. In the meantime, i...

Thanks for your support, guys. I greatly appreciate the informal reviews on the Guide. This lets me know what you like and that, in turn, helps me to become a better writer. :) A fantasy bestiary, huh? It wouldn't be that hard for me to put together something, I'm sure. It would just take time, is a...

Hey Flynn, I got my own copy of your book yesturday. I like what you did pretty much so far. I have to take the time a fully read it but so far you covered everything one would need. I think I might add on to it, but your system is very well put together. You have a very nice job, pat yourself on t...

You can find the post about the announcement here: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=41141 I offer this simply for your consideration, in ...

Current industry standard, for those gamers that came in with d20/3.5 and have no prior experience, does tend to be 28mm. Wargame minis might still be 15mm, but most RPG gamers garnered over the last ten years have "grown up" with WOTC minis, HeroClix and similar, which all tend to be 28mm. Those ar...

Life happened, and then I thought, "Why don't I wait until Civilian Vehicles comes out and use the official design system?" I'm still waiting. :)

It won't be too long, maybe two or three months, and I hope to have Flynn's Guide to Robots ready.

Congrats! Though from the rules (most of them are in the preview on Lulu) it's interesting that you didn't go for a psionic-type system. Any particular reason for that? I went with the current approach in regards to a magic system because the interaction between the various Magic skill specializati...
