Re: The Traveller Companion - PDF & Pre-Order

Do container-launchers count as turrets or fixed mounts for tonnage requirements? A fixed mount generally requires no tonnage while a turret consumes 1 dt...

Re: More AHL

Amazing work! Great to see a smaller ship next to the AHL, gives a good sense of scale! I can understand how the AHL became a favourite for many, the detailed deck plans were a great tool, and the ship itself came with a bit of everything, opening up for a wide variety of games. To me and other newe...

Re: The Traveller Companion - PDF & Pre-Order

Another thing regarding missiles (p.160-161): The dogfight missile gets DM+4 to hit, including when used with point defence reaction. This suggests that, on average, a single dogfight missile takes out several incoming missiles. The larger interceptor missile has DM+2 to hit, not stated outright to ...

There’s an excellent answer to this very question in the “getting rid of negative quirks in spacecraft” thread just a few posts down on the forum :)

Re: The Traveller Companion - PDF & Pre-Order

On the other hand, thinking a bit more about the matter... If an earth-sized planed counts as adequately covered by less than 50 mines, they’re gonna be spread quite thin so actual deployment speed isn’t nearly as important as travel time between deployment points...

Re: The Traveller Companion - PDF & Pre-Order

Minelayer bays: Just a thought, but Is the capacity of minelayer bays perhaps a bit too limited? They can deploy a single mine every 2D minutes, so on average one per round, space scale. The bays do not hold any mines, unlike other physical ammo bays, so the entire bay would presumably be geared tow...

Re: The Traveller Companion - PDF & Pre-Order

Rapid Firing: Bear in mind that these rules are designed to fit any campaign, and do not link solely to the CSC (and we did not want to illustrate the rule with every weapon fitting into every category). It comes down tot he individual referee to play with, but I would advocate anything above Auto ...

Re: The Traveller Companion - PDF & Pre-Order

Aye, I’m aware that some (perhaps most?) of what I’ve got is better suited for discussion rather than book entry, but in the off-chance that something should be in the book I’d prefer to voice it before the book goes to print :) I’ve sadly not had the opportunity to read the entire book yet, but her...

Re: The Traveller Companion - PDF & Pre-Order

Sure, I'll try to check today and compile and post a list before the week is over. Off the top of my head, it concerned the various auto ratings in the ammo chapter (RF, VRF not defined), some details regarding wilderness landings, transponders (active transponder = auto detect?) and gas giant opera...

Re: The Traveller Companion - PDF & Pre-Order

Sweet! I've got a couple of questions/clarification requests that I haven't gotten around to posting yet, but I'll check the updated file first, and then try to post them ASAP if they've not been addressed.

Re: Large Scout Ships?

Thanks!

Also: some of the ships from the Deep Space Explorer’s Handbook (from the Great Rift box) are probably used by the scout service, like the 1,000 dt Armstrong class.

Re: Drinax - Galoof Deck Plans not right

a semi-related question: does anyone else interpret the three cargo decks as a single triple-height deck? The top one is the only one with cargo cranes, and the bottom deck has loading belts.

Re: JBE: What Monsters Do You Want to See?

Well, lurking horrors and extra-dimensional sanity-inducing elder gods are always fun? What about space whales? Perhaps something living in or around asteroids, or swimming through gas giants? I just watched an interesting monster in Voltron: legendary defender. Season 8, ep 3. Not sure if it’s real...

Re: Accelerator shotguns?

Condottiere, that description sounds like the regular accelerator rifle? NOLAtrav: something like that could work, yes! Regarding double armour, the regular shotgun does have that rule, but if we assume this one’s made for combat then special ammo and no double armour would fit better. The gauss sho...

Re: Accelerator shotguns?

Thin is, all the other weapons in the preview dealt more or less the same damage as in Traveller, that’s why I suggested 5D for this one. Could be that its some form of special ammo, same as I suspect is the case with snub weapons (they deal more damage than regular ammo snubs did in 1st ed). I agre...

Accelerator shotguns?

Greetings, Before the Vanguard Kickstarter got cancelled we did get a few previews, and among them were a new weapon - an accelerator shotgun. From the model previews it looked like it would fire a swarm of mini accelerator rockets, and its Vanguard stats were damage 5D, range short (6 squares), zer...

Re: Megafreighters

For a few low population systems a Galoof fleet could work, but if you look at the scale of the Imperium it's not going to scale very well. What's "a galoof fleet"? re: the other thing, I've always assumed "starport facilities" could be dispersed about the system. The Galoof class megafreighter is ...
