Re: Expanded Ship Criticals?

Oh. Yeah, totally forgot that hulls are self-sealing these days, thanks for the reminder :)

So, basically explosive decompression should be reduced to something that happens only when the plot/referee decrees it?

Re: Expanded Ship Criticals?

Brutal! The Traveller Companion has a chapter called “Atmosphere and vacuum” that, naturally, includes a section on explosive decompression. It doesn’t say when it happens, but gives rules for how to handle it. The “upon hull crit” from LBB2 that AnotherDilbert quotes sounds like a good start, but i...

Re: Expanded Ship Criticals?

The softsuit includes a small air bottle (4 hour capacity) and can be plugged into shipboard life-support points to prolong this supply. 4 hours is a lot longer than I remembered/guessed (I was thinking around 1 hour). Presumably the air bottles can be swapped relatively simply, plus there are life...

Re: Space Stations

There's an example class A starport in JTAS vol.1, pages 122-128. It has both Scout and Navy bases, and is configured like this: The Navy base is located within the highport, with its own separate dock and an external berthing area for larger ships. The Scout base on the other hand is a series of bu...

I am a Michael, so imagine my surprise when I thought I was referred to by real name rather than the made-up one - until I read the whole post :)

Higher rank opens doors for the Traveller, impresses people, creates roleplaying opportunities for those who wanted to have a more senior background.
Aye, the subtle difference between having been second backup pilot on a cruiser or commanding officer of said ship.

Re: Drinaxian Compnaion

Nice catch, Ursus Maior! I didn’t look that close, just assumed that it was firmpoint-based due to the weapon setup.

So, how many of you are tempted/going to add a Rorix command ship to the campaign? Perhaps as a mid-campaign upgrade reward? :)

Re: Drinaxian Compnaion

Great book! Collecting all the previously digital-only expansion ebooks in one volume (and in print!) plus new material like base-building rules and new ships? Me like! Personally I especially enjoyed seeing more Sindalian ship classes, fleshing out their empire and navy! A few comments, questions e...

Re: Mongoose News - Drinaxian Companion Ebook & Pre-Order

I got mine bundled with the pre-order. Purchased the physical book, when I moved on checkout there were two items in the basket, one of which was a free ebook.

Re: Air/Raft & Scout/Courier

Yes. No. No.

The Scout does have an air/raft, its displacement is 4 dt, but it’s stored within the docking space. Hence why it’s flagged as - rather than 4, same as with every smallcraft throughout the book, the hangar/docking space takes up space, the vehicles are carried within these.

Re: Civilian G-Carrier

Depends on how we remove it :)

Assuming we keep the same chassis size, it’d still be a 15 dt grav vehicle, with loads of free spaces that we can use for cargo or passengers instead.

Re: Civilian G-Carrier

Looks good!

Removing the fusion gun and (presumably) most of the armor should free up quite a lot cargo space, I assume? Plus enough space to make the passenger compartment very comfortable!

Re: Does the Aslan Hierate have a symbol?

Thanks for the info! Could perhaps be some star constellation that ancient Aslan looked upon each night and decided that it symbolizes unity, conquest or whatever’s most fitting. Or major races? Aslan, Zhodani and imperium clustered together, and... hivers? Further to the right? Though why would the...

Haha no worries! I didn’t actually count on it but it was worth a shot :) Due to a very attractive discount once upon a time I own the digital version of Pirates, but I do intend to purchase the physical books at some point - preferably as part of a Kickstarter campaign to bump the stretch goals a w...

I do have one, extremely silly and weird, question though...

Do you imagine that this book will be included in the Pirates of Drinax addon package of your next Kickstarter?

Re: Trepida Grav Tank

True, light autocannons or VRF Gauss guns are perfect addons to just about any vehicle for those situations where you don’t wanna waste an entire city block just to hit one guy. Lightweight, decent damage and good RoF.

As a bonus they can both use variant ammo to increase their versatility.

Re: Trepida Grav Tank

Sounds good to me! Looking through CSC there are even a few weapons types that get smaller as they evolve through the TLs and gain auto, but we’re talking several TLs there... (Cannon/autocannon for example) And I just realized how amazingly terrifying a rapid-firing fusion weapon is - not just DD l...
