Re: Doors and Door Pressures

you multiply starship weapon damage by 50 to get the personal scale damage. "high-yield weapons like plasma and fusion cannons can punch through lighter starship-scale targets. ... ground force weaponry must divide its damage by 50 before comparing it to a starship-scale target’s armour." A laser r...

Re: Doors and Door Pressures

It used to be Iris valves and hatches were for between bulkheads and built to isolate sections during decompression. Stateroom doors won't stop much of anything and are just modesty partitions. Looking through the various books, it seems cover is very simplified for combat purposes. Without a breac...

Re: Doors and Door Pressures

I believe its 1000 points of personal scale damage. Hull walls hold until the hull value goes to 0, I think. At that point the hull is assumed to be completely compromised, and all remaining attacks go through to the interior of the ship. If you think about it, it really doesn't take that many point...

Re: Doors and Door Pressures

I know, but it seems weird that Mongoose would use these things like hatches and iris valves, and not ever say anything about them, like they don't say even important for gameplay things, like the fact that iris valves are hard to open, or how much damage is needed to breach bulkheads or partitions...

Re: Doors and Door Pressures

In Adventure 1 The Kinunir, in 1979 Traveller, it has exactly what I was thinking of, but I was sure there was a modern book that had exactly that. Also Bulkheads vs. Partition walls were explained there.

Doors and Door Pressures

Once again, I have this problem where I could have sworn there was something about this in a traveller book, but I can't find it in any of mine. This time its starship doors. I could have sworn there was something somewhere about what doors are on a starship (iris valves, hatches, just regular slidi...

Re: Ship Sensors and communications

I could have sworn there was some book that talked about battlefield communications, as well as starship sensors more, including adding options like tight beam and such, but I can't seem to find it in my book collection. Supplement 5-6: The Vehicle Handbook does have Meson Communicators, along with...

Ship Sensors and communications

While rereading the core rulebook again for the Nth time, I noticed that while the book gives ranges for Visual, EM, and Thermal sensors, none of the sensor packages I have ever seen includes them. Are they just included on all sensors? Also, what communications does a ship use, radio? Speaking of w...

Re: Mongoose Traveller Extended UWP

Yeah, It's just very weird to both be given things but at the same time not be given things. When I used to run Shadowrun, things were very different, I felt like I was given pretty much everything. From what I've heard GURPS Traveller had the best as far as sys gen. Yeah, there seems to be a good ...

Re: Mercenary 2nd Edition AP rules vs Central Supply Catalog

Also, I mean, it just makes sense for things like gauss to be effective against armor. Actually. It depends a LOT on the round. There is a reason that the 120mm gun on our MBT doesn't use lead as the projectile with the APFSDS. ;) Well I mean, yeah, the reason why gauss is so effective is because t...

I have most all major books, but I have so many that I really have lost track of what is covered in each book. It's a major problem.

Re: Mercenary 2nd Edition AP rules vs Central Supply Catalog

The best answer is "probably Merc 2nd Edition" - there was an extended chew-through of the weapons and armour piercing rules here on the forums, so those are the newer rules published recently as an update, and have had more public debate on them. That said, your game, your rules. I realize that pe...

Mongoose Traveller Extended UWP

Hey, I was trying to remember if there was a mongoose traveller book that established the Extended UWP. Also, if there was one that said how to do a System Profile, with the orbit numbers and the star and all that. I know that scout had some system cartography stuff, but not like star creation or th...

Re: Mercenary 2nd Edition AP rules vs Central Supply Catalog

Ah okay, I wasn't sure if there was some sort of consensus about this. I do realize that more AP would unbalance things, but it kind of makes sense though. I mean, that's just how things kind of work.

I don't know, I'll have to review and make a decision.

Mercenary 2nd Edition AP rules vs Central Supply CatalogueAP

So I had a question. The Mercenary 2nd edition appendix 1 table has different AP stats and rules than the AP rules for weapons given in the Central Supply Catologue. For example, the Gauss weapons have their full-AP taken away. Which book do I use for this.
