In that case, welcome back! You might be mixing point defense with distributed arrays in your memory. that's the only component with a minimum ship size that comes to mind.
Thank you! And regarding my mixing in arrays, quite likely.

Re: Point Defence Battery Limitations

There isn't any ship size limit for Point Defence Batteries. Most stuff doesn't have any hull size limit, if you can fit it on the existing hull go ahead. Distributed Arrays which require a lot of surface area on the hull are limited to ships of 5,000 or more tons. Thank you for your connfirmation....

Never seen such a limitation on Point Defense Battery, just that it requires a hard point.
Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure if the limitation was part of some past errata. Sounds like I just didn't remember correctly. Good!

Point Defence Battery Limitations

Are Point Defence Batteries limited to 3000+ ton ships only?

I seem to recall such a limitation but looking at HG 2e on page 33 (pg 34 in my copy of the pdf file), I don't see it. Is this limitation stated somewhere else or am I just misremembering?

Re: Ship repairs - do many hands make light work?

To gain a benefit from extra hands the helpers would have to be qualified to do the job. If that is the case then at minimum the person rolling the skill check would receive a Boon. If a Traveller has help, such as good tools, competent aids or other beneficial circumstances, he receives a Boon. CR...

Jeff,

No apologies needed. You made all the right decisions. The magazine will persevere and come out next when you are able to do so.

Work on your family first. It's far more important.

Take care.
Amen to this.

I am so very, very sorry for your and your family's incredible loss.

Have you looked into Mongoose's "Agents" supplement for 1e? It does go into some detail of Imperial-level agents with law enforcement capabilities.

I don’t have the book but doesn’t the Theeve Cluster supplement discuss black market weapons/upgrades/exotic toys?

If not that would be a cool Referee’s Briefing.
Mongoose's "Agent" and "Scoundrel" supplements for Traveller do.

Re: Particle beam radiation damage

Almost makes you wonder there wouldn't be very harsh penalties for civilian craft to be sporting PAs considering how nasty they are. I'm sure they have a unique signature that screams "Shoot me'. Oh, I'll bet. And the moment an Imp Navy ship spots that signature coming off of a civvy, all bets are ...

Re: Particle beam radiation damage

And don't forget that radiation is the gift that keeps on giving. Not much point in boarding a ship that's heavily irradiated by multiple PA hits. That radiation doesn't just go away instantly. It keeps spreading its effects to anyone who get close enough to its radiating source.

Re: How to run a siege ?

Don't forget treachery by someone inside and even honest negotiation for those players who prefer a more intellectual rather than violent way of ending things. Believe it or not, despite all the military tactics available, the most successful sieges were those that ended with talking. Starvation was...

For psionic use between two species that has similar sensory organs, simplistic imagery would seem to work best. Look up Traveller Adventure #1: The Kinunir for details on what happened when the Imperium tried to install an A.I. in one of its warships.

And let's not forget the entire Virus thing that segued MegaTraveller into Traveller: The New Era.

Magazines as such aren't detailed out. It may be easier to imagine something along the lines of a rotary magazine like the OHP class frigates of the USN. I believe the MgT supplement for Darrians does include the description of a rotary magazine for a Darrian ship's launcher..as well as stealth tor...
