The Ides of March are past. Caesar is dead. Is it "-ish" yet?

It's now next year, we're well into January and the silence since November has been deafening. Any news at all?

Re: VAS 2

I am (somewhat belatedly) with Maelmordha on this. Given the number of well-established companies already marketing naval miniatures, not to mention the new ones springing up on Shapeways, it makes no sense to delay the publication of VAS2 until you can find a manufacturer for a line of "official" m...

I'd really like to see a pre-dreadnought version but I suspect the Saints will win another Superbowl before that happens.

Re: VAS 2 Update

Hmmm ... August has flown, September is spreading its wings, and an ominous silence has fallen over the forum. Oh well, unlike some publishers I can think of, at least we can be reasonably sure that Mongoose will cough up VaS 2.0 at some point.

Re: Anyone Still Playing... and Want More Ships?

I've downloaded them and am generally impressed. However, the Cristobal Colon did not mount any 9.45" guns; it had two 8" guns in the X position and no guns in the A position at all. Per page 382 of Conway's "All the World's Fighting Ships": "She was delivered to the Spaniards at Genoa 16.5.1897 bu...

If you've picked them up and looked, sound off please!

Not an errata per se, just a note: the Cristobal Colon's 10" gun was never mounted.

Re: Anyone Still Playing... and Want More Ships?

I have the ships for Santiago de Cuba (including Pelayo) in 1/2400 scale but never thought of using them with VaS. I'd be interested in seeing what you've done.

Re: New Releases for Victory at Sea

I'd jump on 1:1800 WWI ships like a duck on a junebug. Just off the top of my head, sets could include Emden vs Sydney , Battle of Coronel, Battle of the Falklands, Yavuz and Midilli versus the Russian Black Sea Fleet, and Battle of Dogger Bank. Then Jutland and the Med and Adriatic. I can feel the ...

Re: VaS 2.0 confirmed!

In my mind; i didn't think of markers (thats one of my peeves with Battlefleet gothic that screams very similar to the VAS 1.0 rule set.... and i hate it) more along the lines of - If ship A is shooting Ship B, Ship C then shoots at Ship B and gains +1 to AD to indicate the presence of splashes. Th...

Re: Mongoose minis for VAS?

Guys, the arithmetic is pretty simple - at 1:2400 scale, 1 inch = 200 feet, which means, for example, that the USS Iowa (overall length 887 feet) is a hair under 4.5 inches long. Not exactly huge, is it?

Re: AOD turning question?

Recently read the AOD rules a couple of times. I am confused on turning. Page 6 states that a ship can turn twice in the movement phase: once when it completes the first half of it's total movement and a second time when at the end of the movement. So a ship with 3 pts can basically do a 180 degree...

Rick, Pop over to the downloads section for VaS and download the FAQ. I'm not sure whether it will answer all your questions (don't have my copy available at the moment) but it does clarify the situation regarding turning: although the rulebook reads as though the unit's Speed characteristic is the ...
