It sounds like a good character concept to me. I think that of all RQ magic systems, shamanism can be represented as the one that chooses the character rather than the character choosing the system, i.e choosing a cult or apprenticing yourself to a sorcerer. So this character can talk to spirits. If...

I remember that one of the adverts in Snakepipe Hollow was described as being written in Tradetalk. So why can't I remember what I did last week???

In the RQ supplement Runemasters there was an ogre Seven Mothers Rune Lord with a chaos feature of Jump up to 8 metres.

Always liked him as a hunter of enemies of the Empire...enigmatic character, I thought...

Nilmergs... I first saw RQ2 in a shop when I was 11. The blurb on the back said "Play as a human, elf, dwarf, or even a unicorn!" Coming from a strictly Basic D&D mindset and thinking purely of character class, I remember me and two friends gathered round the box as it was opened, with all the assoc...

Liking the thread. Always good to read about adventures and useful little tricks. Love the teaser's - they're really good and convey great atmosphere, mystery and a sense of the epic...I think I'll be trying something like that out...

Actually, what we have seems more like someone mentioning that the system is a little too lethal for the style of game he wants to run, and being met with a grognard telling him that if he doesn't want the players to die all the time they should take up laundry... which is not very helpful. There a...

So your players are essentially saying "we don't want our characters to die?" I think that's a good thing. I also think it's the likelihood of death that creates "heroic" characters - not statistical unlikelihood. Of course that's just a question of gaming style and philosophy. Why not run adventure...

I am a big fan of Rolemaster/MERP and IMHO there is nothing in the Rolemaster combat tables, criticals included, that isn't covered by the RQ system with the exception of bleeding and it's not like RQ needs another way of sapping hit points...

Here's what I'd do. Start the game in the middle of a boarding action, just as the hooks are thrown - staight in with the action. The chaos should be enhanced by the fact that the players have no introduction to the story or the world. In the midst of the chaos I'd have as many mini encounters as I ...

Midkemia Press released Tulan and Carse, both of which feature (in name) in the Riftwar Trilogy. These were generic city packs, but the default system/skeleton stats were clearly runequest/brp. I thought that Feist was a roleplayer-turned-author and Midkemia was their (presumably D&D) campaign world...

It's Gloranthan etymology. Krjalk is the lord of monsters, a chaos demon. When someone says, "krjalki" they are generally referring to the monster, not the chaos. Only in Dorastor does the term take on its full, more terrifying implications. However, I was always under the impression that this was a...

So Greg says that "YGWV - Some believe that the entire world of Glorantha is their dream".

Good enough for me. So it sounds feasible. Not that I'd want it to be a routine feature of a campaign, but certainly a dramatic and life-changing event.

Although to be a party pooper again, it is stated that Beastspeech is not the ability to "talk to the animals" but is the ability to understand and communicate emotional states between human and beast.

So further to this, if Obduran was a True Dragon, then in spite of the fact that his body is no longer material, his dreams/memories/hopes/fears could potentially manifest in a manner that could be interated with physically?

Does he feature in any of the published campaigns?

Dreams of Dragons...

I ran with an idea in my campaign where the characters wandered through Ormsgone valley through a thick mist where they encountered very physical remnants of the Dragonkill because Krisa Yor was dreaming of it. I decided that if Great Dragons were the manifestations of draconic dreams then surely so...

Demi-Birds are a unique creature bred by Dragonewts. I have always treated them as dinosaurs and thus draconic in nature rather than 'beasts'. Dragonewts are able to speak Tradetalk since that is a magical language created by the god of communication/trade, Issaries. There is a reference to a Dragon...

As I understand it the language Auld Wyrmish is the tongue of the Dragonewts. It includes much olfactory and empathic dialogue that is beyond human understanding which is why humans can only learn it to a limited percentage, and the idea that this could be improved by having your tongue split in a d...

After 1619 I figure that Pavis becomes even more of a backwater as far as the Lunars are concerned. They take Karse which is a much more valuable port than Corflu. Pavis was simply the most expedient route to the sea back in 1610 when the Holy Country was intact and powerful. This would help to crea...
