In D&D4 you can now cast spell after spell. So I am talking there of high fantasy setting. Anyway D&D3 offered also priests and wizards a lot more spells that is usually found in Howard's stories. Yep. Add the loads of magical items carried by the average adventuring party, the supernatural monster...

I've read a couple. JN's writing is not bad (nor great), but his focus on B&D leaves them quite unpalatable to most. I see it as a great piece of unintentional humor. The fun part is that he was trying to counter the rise of Feminism and accidentaly wrote the best propaganda material feminists coul...

I agree with tarkhan bey and Hervé, there is much more campaign potential in Turan than in Khitai or Cimmeria (I know it is where Conan is from, but the place is simply boring).

I haven't read Messantia but Shadizar has been a disapointment for me. It isn't bad (some bits on Zamorian society are actually pretty good, imo) but there isn't much meat in the meal. Much of it is inspired by non-Howard Conan stories, which weren't up to the challenge to begin with and should have...

or perhaps he might read some Conan short stories to understand the spirit. That's what I'd do too. But it may prove uneffective, if the guy is too distorded by his high-fantasy power-gaming/monster-grinding habits (Lyn Carter read Conan... look at the consequences !). Some people are just lost for...

Never done this, although it could be interesting. Pictland is a boring place, imo, so I would rather go for a "group of Picts sent into Hyboria on a mystic quest of some kind"campaign. The cultural clash should bring lots of fun. Discover the world, meet interesting people, start fights out of mutu...

Heh. Oh no its not... ahhh, Hero System, Rolemaster, Harn... character generation taking about three full sessions and assistance from someone with a maths degree, one combat round per four hours, entire books the size of a Conan sourcebook full of nothing but combat tables... Well, it's a relative...

In the Blade universe, vampirism is also caused by a virus. One could also mention the HMVV from Shadowrun.

Evil corporations are a common element in SF too. As long as no industrial zombie-making is included, there should be no problem.
