Re: VAS 2

The original game did well enough without models. I for one won't be replacing my Navwar fleet with fancy new big ships. (though I did say the same thing about B5!). Give us the book already!

* We have been looking at something like £10 for a large Battleship.
Of course that will be adjusted by inflation, so by the time they come out, that will be closer to £1000.

Looking on the bright side, when VAS2 comes out, I will be retired and have plenty of time to play.

Re: VAS 2

Please publish the book already. We have ships already. No one at my local club is going to replace their Navwar ships with Mongoose ones, no matter how nice.

A book with a better point system and improved rules would go down a treat. (And pages that don't fall out :D )

Re: Discontinued?

Warlord do a lot of cast on demand, I think. If a webstore or FLGS doesn't have stock, it can take a while to get an item in. But Warlord do sell to other stores. Example, I ordered 2 Bolt Action jeeps from a website, but they were out of stock. I wound up cancelling the order after several weeks. B...

Re: The Paranoia Kickstarter is Live!

Mongoose aside, it is a kickstarter, so it will be delayed.

I read recently that 84% of kickstarters are late.*
My limited experience puts it at 100%.

Re: Activate Talents - HELP

C is right. Activate is a form of special action used to, well, activate a talent.

So the Aim talent requires one action of Activate and one of shooting. In essence, the character takes an action aiming.

Mechanismo

We had a game last night with a Mechanismo in a Justice Dept force and realised that there is no reason to fire standard execution rounds, as the basic Judgementbringer Cannon has more dice and more AP!

Re: Discuss the State of the Mongoose 2014

Does Mongoose still hold the RPG licence for Starship Troopers? Would there be any interest in a Traveller version? I am pretty sure the licence expired. IIRC, SST was going to be a Traveller game back when Mongoose first acquired the Traveller licence, but the SST licence had Hollywood problems an...

Re: NA - FS Query

The ships stand up fine. FFS is really good product that expands the game from 4 samey fleets into a broad range of ships and rules.

As a playtester I can certainly say it was tested. I'm not saying there are aren't over and under-powered ships, but generally it is pretty darn good.

Re: Question about Aicraft in OOB

Also, the dodge skill of the Fairey Swordfish seems way too good for such a slow moving aircraft. Just had to add that as something I noticed. in 'War in a Stringbag' the author recounts being so slow that he is consistently ably to out-turn a Messchersmit and turning and dropping altitude until th...

Re: Star Trek Warp factors versus Traveller Warp

Possibly because it was easier for a TV audience to understand 1-10. Similarly it is easier to understand Jump 1-6, ( and correspondingly planets exactly a parsec apart in 2D) than actually calculate a speed of 0.0194 lightyears per hour. Notably actual warp speeds were never actually established in...
