Re: September changes to Long Lance torpedoes

In game terms 20" range makes them good torpedoes. 20" range plus a fan attack at the start makes them really good torpedoes. 34" inch range makes them I-never-want-to-fight-against-the-Japanese-ever good torpedoes. Kinda makes you glad there were only two ships in the Kitakami class, huh? Heck yes!

Re: September changes to Long Lance torpedoes

Great points. I would definitely save my single shot tubes rather than fire a fan salvo. When my ships have been attacked by long lances, it is usually side on, either because I am positioned for broadside firing or because the firing ships has maneuvered to fire that way. So long range ships can hi...

Re: Victory at Sea Layout

I don't mind the two columns per page. I would prefer the stat block before the weapons. Also my knackered old eyes read the black on white text much more easily than white on blue. Which is the most important thing for me. Also please don't use the horrible gothic Germanic font used in the first ed...

Re: Critical hits

We prefer the new method. Except most ships don't suffer higher levels before they are destroyed. Weapons salvos don't dish out than many, but torpedoes sure do.

Re: Long Lance Suggestion

It isn't the torpedoes them selves that are the issue. Although their rand is a problem, its the salvo before the game starts. This can cripple of sink enemy ships, with no range penalties, no come back, no evasion and not even a penalty for slow loading. Even if ships with these weapons were vulner...

Why are British and American Escort Carriers classed as civilian? Why are Japanese ones not?

Long Lance Suggestion

Rather then give use every single tube in a Japanese fleet, why not simply give them a cost per attack? For example: A Japanese player can pay additional points for a long lance fan salvo attack. He pays 25 points per attack. For each attack he rolls 1d6 and hits a random enemy ship on a 6. The enem...

Japanese points

My best estimate for Japanese points, based on my previous estimates and several games that included Type 93 torpedoes. This does not factor in the Long Lance rule, which makes Japanese ships with type 93s even more effective (that's 4 out of 6 destroyers and more than half of the cruisers). I haven...

Devastating question

If a devastating weapon inflicts a critical hit, does it also inflict the critical effects of the lower levels of that critical score?

So if a 4 is rolled does it inflict all the critical effects for levels 1, 2 & 3 as well?

Book one will be massive compared to book two as it currently stands. :D Although the British fleet could fill a book on its own!

I guess there will plenty of history.
