Are you the author Mongoose Steele? If so, that is great that you're here and willing to take input. Some better rules for war spear would be cool. If you're willing to consider other ideas, here are my thoughts: Revise, expand or offer optional variants for the Soldier's Formation Combat Power. I l...

The many aspects of Christianity and the myth of Christ that are taken from previous religions are well documented by respected scholars. I suggest you try reading Joseph Campbell, especially the Masks of God series. It 's all there. Now we start throwing around the "respected scholars agree with m...

Oh c'mon. Osiris/Horus, Dionysos, Mithra, Zorastrianism and a dozen other far older religions have virgin birth, resurrection in the third day, saving souls through blood of a willing sacrifice and other similar core doctrines. Then there are little details like the three sages and birthday of the ...

Re: Stygian Giant Kings?
I would base it on the Acheronian race template from Signs and Portents. So, they're not actually that giant then? How tall would they be? I collected a bunch of miniature plastic models of Indian, Egyptian, and Buddhist gods that would stand 10-14' tall in scale with regular minis. I thought of ma...

Yes. Vincent's work is definitely the very best of the Conan rpg. He and Dale's insights, vast knowledge of the canon, comics and pastiches should be central to mongooses vision for the game. I really hope they give him lots more work and control over the line. I may not buy many more books for the ...

I've been delving into the Shem book a lot as of late, and I'm thinking of playing an Asshuri player soon, so I'm keen to hear Vincent's further responses. I don't have the same historically relevant knowledge as you two do on the subject, but as a player I hope the Asshuri are more than just cavalr...

Wow! That's a surprise I didn't suspect. This is great news Trev. I hope you do resurrect the game. Posting two or three times a week is enough for commitment for me, but I would love to see your game grow and continue. I actually thought we were nearing the climax/end of the battle vs. the brownrob...

i don't think house rules would be a problem, so long as you are choosing them for good reason, and they make for a fun playable game. I think a thread based game like trevor's, easily becomes more about role-playing and story telling than the rules. the way to make house-rules work is simply to mak...

we had a game going on in these forums. Evil Trevor's Legends of Zamora. But it ended with his final abrupt disappearance. Check it out if you haven't read any of it. Somewhat isolated in Japan over the last 5 1/2 years it was my only rpg experience in a while and my first chance to try the Conan ga...

well I sure hope he follows vincent's and dale's ideas about these regions. Vincent, any chance your going to pop in and say you've been in touch with him? It would be great if Lawrence also became an active poster here and kept a dialog with the fans like Vincent does. I would really like to see th...

I got my replacement and the binding is much better than the first. I applaud mongoose for their excellent customer service. However, even properly bound, it is such a thick and unwieldy book, I still would have been happier with two thinner books, a PHB/DMG type option. I loved the ease with which ...

oh no, that sounds disastrous! first of all binders are bulky and unwieldy. I hated the old edition of monster manuals in binder format. the major problem though, it that perforated holes will eventually tear. the only way such a system could be durable if the paper was especially strong and reinfor...

well, the renowned Kodo taiko group of Japan always delivers great percussion with ancient roots. they were the drummers of one of the recent big kung foo flicks, hero/house of hidden daggers if i remember right. don't know if they are wild an barbaric enough for you though. there is lots of great A...

Can you confirm what maps you went with?
Are they this: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=354591 ?
Or was something more in line with Vincent's and Dale's research developed?
