Re: Low Berth vs Fast Drug
Low berth death rates are simply silly.
They wouldn't exist, be allowed or use except in the most dire emergency.
So change the game rule and reduce the statistical chance of death.
Don't model the Universe on a silly dice rule..

Re: Transponders and 'Pirates of Drinax'
The Reach is non Imperial space and indeed in many places no persons space at all. Maybe in the Glorious Empire a ship must have a transponder or get shot at, and ditto in the small part of the 3I, or the Hierate. But the rest really has no coherent supra planetary authority, so i suspect that all s...

Re: Matriarchies
Oh don't say we are patriarchal by nature and is it as a justification for the same in an SF game.
SF means speculative fiction as well as science fiction and has a very long tradition of different human societies.
But I don't want to start a disagreement, just looking for examples.

Re: The Empress Wave - An Alternative Thought
Thanks for all that. I like the speculative ideas, both of the Wave as social unrest but also as apocalyptic telepathic event. We also are reminded that the Ancients, almost certainly, were not the only pan galactic polity to have been around, indeed we know from Secrets of the Ancients that they fo...

Re: Matriarchies
I agree that any society could be matriarchal, the game system doesn't militate against it. However.. Aslan society is patriarchal, women may run everything but males are clearly in charge and set policy and aims as well as fighting. Zhodani society might be gender neutral, but it's clearly not matr...

Matriarchies
Just finishing off Traveller Sword Worlds and the very patriarchal tone made me pause. Does the OTU have any matriarchal societies at all? I really can't think of any that aren't fundamentally patriarchal or non gender based (Hiver come to mind). Given the broad range of societies in SF, this seems ...

Re: Traveller Wishlists for 2015
Traveller: Dimension Doors, capturing the idea of stargates, sliding into parallel streams, wormholes, etc. There's plenty of sources and a wide variety of toolbox components to build campaigns around doors and gates, it'd be quite easy to build it into variant OTU or a new setting. Droyne Hivers Vi...

Re: Alien Book Droyne & Minor Alien Books
I love the Darrians and the Sword Worlders are good, even though Sword Worlders are mainline Humaniti. The Luriani are quite useable outside of the Ley Sector, it's quite reasonable for any alien group in Charted Space to have had a colony ship head off a long way to set up a new society, so a Luria...

Re: Selling B5 or Starship Troopers?
Are the B5 28mm miniatures valuable? I have Narns and Minbari boxes in shrink wrap still and I was going to get them painted, but having seen the prices on ebay I think I may sell them instead.

Re: Trojan Reach: Hierate/Imperium Trade Route ... why not E
So can a broken neck. It can also create a lot of needless work for the GM. Then don't play in the 3I. Create each system in your setting by hand or rewrite the system gen to avoid the bits that bug you. Or use the GURPS Space system and then write the UPP in Traveller. I like the dissonance...

Re: [Secrets of the Ancients] Additional reading?
Read the whole thing if you can. You may want to read up a little on the Droyne and the Ancients, but you might also want to be ready to drop or adapt bits as you go. I ran about 85% of it, but YMMV. On the other hand, you may find that it's pretty epic and as a gentle way in you might be better wit...

Having run it the Spinward Marches book would help but isn't essential. Nothing else is needed.

Re: Trojan Reach: Hierate/Imperium Trade Route ... why not E
Traveller has always been a game where the map was generated and then it has been explained after the event. It creates creative dissonance. I would suggest that the starport was either there when the system had a much higher population (population collapse is very appropriate for Trojan Reaches), a...
