So what's this 2nd age and 3rd age all about then? Is it different eras in the Glorantha world? How are they different from each other? yeah, they are different historical periods basically. The 2nd age is more epic I suppose you could say. Two great empires in conflict, both trying to reshape the ...

yeah, there'll be a few differences but they are minor.

You'll need to add Resilience skill ratings and such but thats easy enough

For skills, I just assign an overall skill rating and extrapolate stat stuff as needed.

f.x. "guard 50%"

If he's rolling stuff that isn't quite guard related, do it at -20

By and large, I prefer having players roll, than having NPCs roll, but MRQ2 does expect a lot of opposed rolls.

Most fights are fairly few rounds.

Having extra dice can be handy, if your players aren't keen on keeping track of stuff in their head. Just use two sets with different colours.

I think Glorantha can be fine, but it needs to be more accessible. Like I said earlier, I just don't know where to start and TBh, I just can't be bothered trying to figure it all out. I'm sure it's probably just a case of looking around online a bit, asking on forums whatever, but I'd rather buy a ...

Glorantha's always suffered from the lots of books approach. I remember carting around the rules, Cults of Prax, Griffin Mountain/Pavis/Rubble/Borderlands... its extremely difficult to get all that nuance and myth into one, handy to port volume. Its not restricted to Glorantha, either. In the recen...

Deleriad wrote:Pretty much all you need is the core Glorantha book and Cults of Glorantha.

The core book includes character generation and EWF magic as well as background.

Cults book gives you all the cults you'll ever need.
Thanks!

To everyone as well :)

Im not sure how C&C handles it but my general rules of thumb (and I am rather interested in a horse&musket era RQ game): Damage is high but not insanely so. (poor propellant but a big soft lead ball does bad things to you) Slow reload times obviously. Once skill reaches 75%, reload times drop by 1. ...

This will probably be a fairly straight forward Dragon pass romp.
So mostly I just need whatever stuff covers the Orlanthi cults, and any special options for them with regard to professions and such.

Or maybe a re-run of an old 3rd edition duck campaign we did :D

Skill ratings and such should translate pretty much as is (for the older percentile game). If its the later version where they used a D20 roll under, just multiply skills by 5. THey had heroic abilities that might be good inspiration for same in MRQ. The magic system was a bit unique (but very good)...

What books for Glorantha?

So it looks like we'll be doing MRQ2 soon.

Other than the new 2nd age Glorantha book, are there any other "essentials" for a fairly basic Gloranthan game?

I imagine there's a Cult book as well?

What about dragon magic stuff's ?

Cheers!

You are right on the book keeping. I do sort of like it being by action, as it reigns in the people using shields a bit. A big chunk of wood and steel is pretty tiring to haul around.

But we'll try it out and see how it goes. Most combats don't last all that long anyways :)

I'd say it depends on how often you play, and how often you give out improvement rolls.

As written, the game seems like it definately assumes a very long term campaign, so if that isn;t the case for you, you'll want to reduce it slightly.

A few rules questions

Apologies if these has been covered elsewhere If there are official answers, those are appreciated, but even if not, I'd love to hear how people have tackled it for their own games Fatigue: Page 61 specifies that for heavy activity (sprinting, fighting) you have to test after a number of actions equa...

Re: Improvement rolls

"Your characters have just spent the last month in Safelster. Each one gets two skill increase rolls, limited to Streetwise, Lore (Safelster), and Language (Safelster)." "Your characters have just spent a season rowing on a Waertagi ship. Learn Language (Waertag) at base level." I've done this a lo...

Hopefully this level of effort and dedication will bring back those folks who were disappointed by Mongooses' first attempt. With that in mind, perhaps you'll give it a chance, borrow a copy and give it a read before summarily dismissing it out of hand? The only thing he'll pay for is a word for wo...

Actually, I'd have to say I really like the Mongoose Chargen too. It's much more focused than the standard BRP method, and allows a nice balance between packaged archetypes (the cultures and careers) and the usual flexibility of BRP. I also like the way that they've resolved the interaction of Char...
