Re: Traveller Question - Core Rules
I think the rule in Mercenary:Book 1 includes the note that pistols and rifles and such cannot cause damage in any case. Only heavy weapons. That's a good "common sense" rule, that should include fisticuffs vs. a starship. If a player said he was going to punch the starship; I'd say, after a few se...

Re: Traveller Question - Core Rules
I personally think 50x is crazy. Others have adequately explored the Rules as Written, so I've clipped everything except for my "house rule" fix: In my games, I've changed the factor to 10x. However, that makes shipboard laser turrets less powerful than man-portable fusion guns, so I've also reduce...

Re: Lore question- 4FW/Zhodani/Ine Givar
Here's a link to a similar question posted on the SJG site (I browsed it and it seems to have to useful information): http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=24297 I'll back andrewv's suggestion for a JTAS subscription; there is a TON of information, scenarios, locations, npc's, etc. It is amongs...

Re: [Freelance Traveller] Issue 034 Available for Download
Thanks for another great issue of Freelance Traveller. I especially enjoyed Sam Lockwood's Hostile Intent article as I share his opinion that the core rules are unnecessarily complex with overly fiddley bits. The additional vehicle combat rules are icing on the cake.

Re: Chthonian Stars POD?
What's with the yelling dude? No, there is no news on the POD. The publishers had/have some kind of crisis (I don't remember the details). The second Traveller book and the new system line are all on hold and likely to be vaporware (I don't have any inside information, just being a pessimist since t...

Re: Fifth Frontier War
There are pros and cons to using the same year or pushing it forward. Harn uses a static 720 TR for all it's materials and does it very well; it allows the GM to not be worried about cannon future history being different than his own. Moving the time line forward can be inspirational and give the se...

Re: Conan for Legend = perfect match?
I am currently running the 'Betrayer of Asgard' campaign for my group. We initially used the D20 OGL system but recently switched over to Legend and I must say: the fit seems, thus far, perfect. I was never a fan of the D20 license. While the Conan version did the material credit, it still retained...

Re: Different New "of Legend" Settings
I'd like to see Mongoose offer a classic high fantasy, elves n dwarves sort of setting - a kind of legendary fantasy world that acts as a gateway to the more interesting stuff (and has a good base of monsters etc to steal from). Funny you should say that. I have an outline for just such a world. It...

Re: Secrets of the Ancients hardback mising something?
The only solution I can imagine is for Mongoose to print corrected versions and sell them at printing cost to anyone who mails them a bad copy. I'd eat the postage to get it there if they'd eat the postage to send my corrected copy. I believe in the past Mongoose have replaced faulty hard copies fo...

Re: Prime Directive Traveller
AKAmra, I am sorry that you feel that way. I have tried to tread lightly, but since Mongoose agreed to this joint venture, they are bound by contractual law to honor the terms of ADB, Inc.'s license. At this point, I am the highest-ranking ADB staff member who frequents this board, carrying assorte...

Re: Prime Directive Traveller
The "legal discussion" pissed me off and dampened my interest in the product. IMO the ADB staff that post on this forum would be better off in ignoring the topic completely and to tread lightly. Their position will only drive potential customers away and kill interest in this product line. If that'...

Re: Chthonian Stars
Your welcome, I wish there was more information to share. Wildfire had poor communication before their current problems, now it's nothing (I do understand that they are a small operation). Another option is to get the PDF and have it printed yourself; at least the core book was made available as a P...

Re: Chthonian Stars
So... What exactly does that mean? I don't mind books POD, but who will be taking orders and when? If anyone at Mongoose is monitoring this thread, please comment! Unless you can get a response from Wildfire; you can monitor the DrivethruRPG site for when/if the book is offered POD (you could also ...

Thanks for the update. Will The Errand be available for the Kindle or PDF only? I have the Kindle version of The Backwards Mask and am about half way through; I think the Kindle is far superior to PDF for reading.

Yes, I think bio-tech makes the most sense; the body is modified to grow the sub-dermal armor. Surgery with artificial implants would be possible in a very high-tech society, but that is some seriously invasive surgery. BTW Zero, if your interested in a great source for bio-tech gadgets I strongly s...

Yep, which is why it could encourage people to move their discussions to other fora. Hmm. Would it, though? I guess I just don't think it's that big a deal. Perhaps I'm in a minority by thinking that the SFU is big enough to do so much with without needing to add relatively minor bits from the othe...

A personal favor to ask, as well. Can this thread not include personal comments about my boss? It makes me very unhappy and uncomfortable to read negative commentary when I have an entirely different perspective of him. I don't respond because the game is not about the person -- the game shou...
