Rurik's Grimoire Ramblings Part 2: Mechanics Nitty Gritty. OK - so you need the Read Grimoire skill as a Sorcerer. You use it to read and learn spells from your order's Grimoire. Great, just what you needed as a Sorcerer - ANOTHER FREAKIN SKILL TO LEARN! Each spell being a skill plus all the manipu...

It was a good article, wasn't it? The 'system'of Morrowind always felt very runequest, as did the soul gems, since they were just storing crystals. Of course the big nod was The Puzzle Canal in Vivec. I still think that Prax and the Zola Fel valley would make a perfect setting for a Gloranthan comp...

Pah! Being an Eurmali Trickster carries the death penalty, but Tricksters in other cultures are just fine. Praxian tricksters follow Raven and Hyena and are not persecuted at all. Local trickster spirits/godlings are worshipped by people who are just annoying. It's only the Eurmali who have a bad p...

I collated all the runes associated with all the gods in the Orlanth and Ernalda pantheon and worked out you could gain access to "charms" for about half the runes and thus access to about half the rune spells. That's if you are going down the charms route. If you were going down that route it woul...

Yes. It is a lovely cover but none of the cults in Cults of Glorantha 1 practice human sacrifice. I thought it was more of a Thed ceremony, personally, from that cult in Cults 2. I've always thought Cults 1 showed a Krarsht temple, although I have no idea how there could be that many worshippers of...

Re: Gloranthan Mysticism

Hello everyone. I wanted to ask if anyone had any information on Mysticism as a usable magic system in MRQ. I have the Magic of Glorantha Book and I was dissapointed that more kinds of mysticism weren't not detailed other than Draconic Mysticism. Are there any MRQ books that elaborate on this magic...

'Cults Volume 1' obviously is an image of " The First Greater Aspect of Lord Sárku, The Five-Headed Lord of Worms (OK you can only see three heads...) , Master of the Undead, Guide into Darkness, the Demon-Lord of Decay and the One Who Comes from the Tomb ". The only snag is it isn't very Glorantha...

Votankiland and the Elder Wilds will be getting some treatment for Second Age - but please don't hold me to any kind of timetable. As Simon's already said, very rightly, there's stacks going on there during the Second Age, but its a very different place to the Griffin Mountain of the Third. Not sur...

The little imp who taught the God Learners about HeroQuesting might have had something to do with it. When writing CoG I asked Greg about the imp found in "Atlas of Imaginary Places" and he said that it was definitely chaotic and not really a Trickster thing. I suspect that this book (and its resid...

Re: Trickster and Moon cults

I have been classifying divine spells from spellbook (I will give you the complete list agruped by cult type if you need it -pdf format), but I have a trouble: I don not find any cult from cults 1 and 2 that matches with the trickster and moon cults. (There is no moon visible in second age, I think...

Don't forget that (unless I am misunderstanding) that all spells from a school's grimoire are cast using the same skill. This is a huge practical incentive to stick to the spells from the grimoire because a sorceror needs only learn one skill to cast a number of different spells. That was the inten...

Re: bat hsunchen

The Article on the Gloranthan Website is by Greg & Ttrotsky with assistance by Stephen Martin and some chap called Jeff Kyer  Ttrotsky did the writing. I just wrote it up in good form and added a bunch of Greggly notes and corrections. It describes the Pujaleg as pygmies, one of the 10 "Great...

Re: bat hsunchen

Hello! I would like to make you a question about hsunchen. The bat ones are the pujaleg, aren't they? When they trasnform into bats, which is their size? smaller bats or larger ones like those of monsters II? Thanks! I believe that is one name for them. There are several varieties of bat-hsunchen. ...

Where is a good Timestop when you need one? Out of curiosity, which rule is the Rurik's Rule being referred to in this thread? (I'd thought the term referred to a the use of the original 2-roll combat table with a single opposed roll, but this does not seem to be the context in this thread). The us...

Sadly I think they've stopped listening. Far from it. I've been working with Jeff Kyer on the Cults I and II books and although I've had to put this project on hold for a variety of reasons, there will be a fix produced in due course. However, there is a great deal of work to be done, and, as other...

Joking (and caveats) aside, IIRC of old, Gloranthan bronze can be mined but can also be made by mixing the Gloranthan equivalents of tin and copper. However, this is from the old RQ2 days and could have been Gregged. Nope. Still canonical. It can be an alloy OR a naturally occuring metal. Jeff
