Re: Play Time for Mr. Bubbles

I ran this module about a year ago. We completed it in four hours but only with some rushing through certain scenes. That was with three players - how many did you have?

Re: Things to make the players do

Generally when I give new players their Secret Society missions, they're along the lines of "Kill another player but make it look like an accident". It winds up with them passing notes and being sneaky, which are great behaviours to encourage in the game, for the benefit of all :)

Re: Missed the kickstarter, can we preorder?

It was said on the kickstarter feed that supplements would be available for general release, but with no schedule attached. I was in the same boat, could only spring for the box set + some dice in the end, and I remember reading that the other books etc. would be sorted for kickstarters first, then ...

Any updates? / Paranoia-Live.net down again

1) Wondering if we have any news yet on the progress of this project. I believe the books went to Eric Goldberg and Greg Costikyan for their feedback in the spring. 2) I see Paranoia-Live.net is offline again. Any sceners know if/when it's coming back? Granted, it was very quiet indeed of late, with...

Re: Paranoia. New. Stay Alert. Keep Your Laser Handy.

"bring its tone and setting up to date", "cards and fast-paced tactical action and cascading chaos" Hmmmmmmmmm, suddenly I'm less excited :( I hear you, but there's no point releasing an edition that doesn't update things. People are still playing 2nd ed and the 2004 (1st Mongoose) edition, let alo...

Re: I'm so excited.

I was sure there would be a new edition in the end (when Mongoose have lost a license they don't hide the fact), but James Wallis being involved was an unexpected bonus.

However, as a loyal obedient citizen I will stick to a RED-level flush of excitement, outwardly at least :D

Woohoo! Can't wait to see what's coming. Whole new edition? Kickstarted "new direction"? A line of novelty hats?

Re: What about Paranoia?

The suspense is killing me. Mongoose pls The suspense is killing all of us. I actually died shortly after the State of the Mongoose 2012, and have been posting to this forum by a combination of a Ouija board balanced on a graphics tablet, operating an onscreen keyboard. Mongoose have always been go...

Re: Any plans for a reprint/rerelease?

And for those dedicated fans who did buy the supplements, there were enough mission ideas in there that would give GMs enough inspirations to make their own stuff instead of relying on Mongoose Publishing. I'd argue you could do the same with the published missions though - mix and match content to...

Re: Any plans for a reprint/rerelease?

...aaaand now High Programmers is out of stock too! Pen-and-paper RPGs that aren't Dungeons and Dragons are a niche within a niche, and the market is probably smaller than it was even ten years ago (anyone remember how glorious the first relaunch was, with a supplement nearly every month?), I know a...

Re: Any plans for a reprint/rerelease?

If we're on the subject, I ran Mister Bubbles several weeks back, at the local (Mongoose-hosted) games club. Lots of silliness coupled with lots of paranoid behavior, which from players who had barely any knowledge of the game was most impressive - they jumped in with gusto, passed loads of notes ar...

Nice badge, Alek_cendre_91. Permission granted to borrow and adapt for my own use? :)

Well we're now in 2014, let's hope this is a good Year 214 for the Paranoia line. It's the 30th anniversary of the game, after all...

Re: Whats Mongoose Publishing planning next?

Will there be a State of the Mongoose this year? Always make interesting behind-the-scenes reading, especially given what seems like a major realignment towards being primarily a miniatures company rather than an RPG one. No criticism intended there, btw. Adapt and survive and all that. I would like...

Re: Re.: New direction of Mongoose?

I would guess there is more money in miniatures than rulebooks right now. It's much harder to pirate miniatures. My understanding is that in the current market, an RPG which is successful will sell a couple thousand copies... I don't know how that translates to the mini games, but a similar customer...

Re: Any Future Plans for Paranoia?

I see we're down to just two hardcopy books available to purchase from the Mongoose webstore, and only the odd 2004-edition PDF available at drivethru. And 2(0)14 is getting closer. I await announcements with great interest I am guessing that Gareth Hanrahan's fathering twins has impacted significan...
