Re: Behind the Claw - Now in Stock!

I pre-ordered my copy when they first advertised it but still haven't received my hard copy. Their website says they shipped it but there's no tracking information and I certainly never received it. I've emailed msprange requesting assistance. I hope they get back to me quickly. I can report that M...

Re: First Blush

Players will build whatever they have rules for building. There's enough in the core book to make up stuff of your own. In terms of vehicles, I completely agree with you. I never had trouble creating cars or grav vehicles as needed. Starships, on the other hand, greatly benefit from having access t...

Re: First Blush

Well, it sounds like the decision is made. My regret is that the Core Book will no longer be the tool kit is once was, with basic versions of all the key build systems included, making it all you needed to build your own campaign or even galaxy. In my own experience, that was one of the most attract...

Re: First Blush

Yes ship design will be covered in High Guard, which will be part of the playtest. There was some debate about removing this component from the core rulebook. But in the end this keeps all the rules for ship building together, before even the main parts of the rules where split between the core rul...

First Blush

I just downloaded the Beta and am reviewing. Very pretty although the wide number of fonts used is sometimes a bit distracting. Am a bit concerned over the material that was removed, particularly ship design. I assume it will all be covered in High Guard, but that makes this Core Book considerably l...

Re: [Third Imperium] A well needed book!

I have to agree that this would be an excellent anchor book for the Traveller line. While I love 2300, Hammer's Slammers, Strontium Dog, and even Cthonian Stars, I think the Imperium is still the campaign that moves Traveller books. While some of this is covered in the Spinward Marches book, a solid...

Re: Secrets of the Ancients Reprint

I just bought a copy. How do I know if my copy is a first printing or not? What errors should I look for? The thread discussing the missing bits in the orignal printing is here, should give you enough info: http://forum.mongoosepublishing.com/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=49420 LBH Thank you. It turns out I...

This could be a very good match. I see a lot of cross-over potential between Traveller and SFB, even more so than pure-blood Star Trek. SFB is more solidly based and has the old-school universe feel that Traveller does well. Will the core Traveller/PD corebook include starship rules or will we need ...

Wow. That could be huge! And I will say that a Traveller/Star Trek combo might make the most playable Star Trek RPG in recent memory. I'd buy it and I'm not even a major Trek fan. You go!

Of those listed, I'd vote for Dune first. That universe is just too rich to ignore. That said, I'd still rather see Halo or Mass Effect licenses for more contemporary sources and the CoDominium Universe by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle (the series that featured the Mote In God's Eye and the War Wo...

Mithras: I think your ideas for a campaign are excellent, particularly if you're playing with a group that already knows a bit about Traveller. If I were really trying to make a Traveller movie , I agree that something around the end of the Interstellar Wars Era is the best bet, for a number of rea...

Can we ask what happened? Pre-orders too low? Color printing costs too high? Last minute licensing issues?

And, yes, a PDF release would be wonderful if possible. It's a great idea for a game. Any chance of that?

Just read this over yesterday and have to comment on John Snead's excellent article on alternate data-handling and biotech. He outlines several variant technologies that can be inserted into Traveller to bring it more in line with current Space Opera memes. It matches and codifies many things I was ...

Has any one mentioned the Tadeshi Kovacs novels: Altered Carbon and Broken Angels ? Great combination of sci-fi noir with some epic plotting. Brain transfer tech, interstellar colonies, anti-grav drives, smart weapons and low-level AI but NO FTL travel, only FTL communications. Hence personalities a...

I can reinvent IZ, keeping what I like and sort of redesign it for Traveller, so it's not a carbon copy of other versions. That might be the funnest way to do it. I might agree. It's probably not worth re-inventing the wheel unless you have a really exciting central concept you want to pursue and d...
