Re: Experts are Made, Not Born.
I respectfully have to disagree. Einstein may well have had a high Physics skill, but it was his creativity and a different way of looking at the world that made him a brilliant mind. He was in fact "brilliant" (as in being intelligent and being able to extrapolate new ideas from existing data), rat...

Certainly all these are good ideas. I think what others have been suggesting (and I'm suggesting here) is that there's no need to make them. The scenario you're suggesting is an extreme example caused by a pc gaining too high of a stat... who has EDU 15 in any Traveller game? In a "Classic" mode gam...

I would just like to weigh in here. I don't have a huge amount of rules input to add here, other than to suggest that there's not really a good way to model what Supplement Four wants (or even match Classic Traveler's flavor of 'mostly average guys tramping around the galaxy in their Far Trader') wi...

Tangent: Central and South-American illegals would stop crossing the border if people stopped giving them jobs. Most of the people wanting cheap labor aren't the "evil commie liberals". After all, we don't own businesses, do we? We just like to sit around and find ways to hate America, right? Second...

But, you are saying that, if you read what you wrote in the first paragraph. No, I think the problem is that you (and the rest of us) don't understand how MGP has determined the point costs of various units. This is (and was) true of 40K... the same sorts of units don't have the same costs across fa...

Re: Steampunk Mars from Adamant
The new GURPS (is it still "new"?) is quite good. "Martial Arts" will be out soon, and will really make GURPS 4e combat interesting.

No, it's just that there is no pleasing some people. I see this with every new game that comes out... someone has to step in to "save the game" because if only the idiot game designers would listen to The Game's Savior (TM) everything would be great and the company would sell billions of dollars wor...

But, what about the people (like me) who can paint, but simply don't have the time to do so? Isn't this game (and the minis) perfect? What about younger gamers who would be laughed out of the game store if they tried to play 40K where they've slapped on some paint to be able to get some figures on t...

Unfortunately, that's not true. A model can only damage a unit it can see, unless it is firing a weapon that causes damage in a burst. It's certainly easier to do things your way, but it's not supported by the rules. I'm going to give you the quick and dirty answer. This is the way it should be done...

I'd love to hear the designers' thoughts here... but it's possible that in the near-future of BEvo the US Army is still trying to find a way to be functional after being broken by the lack of training/rearming cycles and constant deployment in Iraq. There may not be any money to replace the Army's b...

Re: Questions
The standard rules (the rule sheet available on this site, or in each figure box) has all models in the unit shooting at the same fire zone. Then, the highest result is allocated to the nearest unit in the fire zone to the firing unit. The advanced rulebook has an option to allow units to split thei...

Aren't they pretty much like houses everywhere else in the world? Anyone know where I can find pictures and dimensions for Chinese houses? I'm just starting on building my own terrain and I want to make a Chinese village for my figures to fight over. I spent a few hours digging through google, but I...

It does matter if a particular weapon has LOS. THe shooting rules specifically say that they do "...attack any enemy that it candraw a Line of Sight to and is within range (to the center of the FZ)." It seems to me that the ethos of B:Evo is to have a simple, fast and easy to use system. Because of ...

This isn't what the rules say, though. The basic rules say: "Every model with a weapon can use it to attack any enemy that it can draw Line of Sight to and is within range. Range is always measured to the center of the Fire Zone" p. 16 of the advanced rulebook says: "Every model with a weapon can us...

Re: Couple of rules questions.
Anyone that wants to lose the game by putting their infantry in the way of a main tank gun (even as "armor" for a transport) is welcome to do so. It could be argued that sending marines out as abblative armour for shadows is also slightly against the spirit of the game..... It would also get any USM...

Unfortunately, I think changing this rule is likely to increase the already considerable advantage of factions with lots of MGs (Marines, Brits). Keep in mind that the 3rd wave units include a Marine squad that can field 3-4 SAWs. WHy field anything else if the Force Recon units are "Squad" rather t...

I think there's way too much "we need to fix this" going on here anyway... at some point there has to be a firm set of rules if there are going to be a tournament scene. The rules we have really are fine the way they are... but IMHo there're too many people trying to apply "we've done this for years...
