Re: Mindjammer - the city people

All the gear is stated for Traveller, or references the CSC and Traveller MRB.

I can't say anything about Traveller and other older Mindjammer supplements sadly.

Re: Mindjammer Traveller released Jan 11

I have to say that this is "Modern" Traveller. It takes the game out and beyond the 1970's "retro" rut it had gotten into due to the 3rd Imperium setting.

I like it a terrific amount.

I'd second 'Mindjammer'.

Has pretty much what you're after covered.

Re: Fallout of Legend?

Fallout is of course an 'Aftermath!' derived game (it really is). However, Legend would be fine as a system.

Why use skid pads when you could use "feet"? You don't need a skidding surface to skim to a halt if you have anti-grav.

Yes, but 6 knots per hour, minus 3 knots gives a result of 3 knots....

You're reading "/" as divide... it's used often by Mongoose (and in this context) as "per".

How about brain plasticity? After the first life (and char gen) everything is merely "experience". You just don't gain skills, just "Yeah, I've seen this before".

They had fun using the vehicle tables for hits and damage... They all whooped it up when "weapon/arm" got rolled. Nice, yeah, robots and creatures are fun by being the "free fire" things you can shoot without moral quibble. Wait for the 'Transhumanist' book where you realise that that was your gran...

Here's a thing. Let's assume your Adventurer discovers the skill of hypnosis. Somebody has to. Now, in your fantasy world you don't have a god of sleep called Hypnos, and your name is not Franz Mesmer so you can't call what you do either hypnosis or mesmerism. What name would you give to your newly...

Finally, consider making the ooze resistant to edged and pointed weapons. Although bludgeoning weapons inflict full damage, weapons that can perform the Bleed or Impale combat manoeuvres only inflict half normal damage. I'd actually go the other way... blunt weapons inflict less damage as the impac...

Works the same in 2300AD, corporate sponsorship really helps.

Re: Artificial Intelligence

I don't know anyone who uses the 3rd Imperium OTU. That said, change the TL structure to do what you want out of the game. It's your game, it's designed to be altered (as log as you aren't using the 3rd Imperium, that is). It's just a framework. Wasn't someone doing an 'Eclipse Phase' to 'Traveller'...

In many ways I'd threat it as an elemental in that size dictates some characteristics. That said, it is a lump of protoplasm, it is not going to have high DEX, INT, CHA (APP), POW or anything other than sheer animal resistance to anything that affects its body. It's a tough, slow lump of animal prot...

Re: Expanding Traveller's Audience

I really hate to say it... but dump the 3rd Imperium. There is just too much arcane, esoteric baggage. Someone has already mentioned the obvious point that new players are most likely drawn in by seeing some "cool" movie, or reading some recent bestselling novel. Sadly the 3rd Imperium is not in any...
