Re: Sublight travel
The only price affected by the change is that for basic passage. The table was done using SO=Cr2000 & DO=Cr3000 LS per stateroom. (QO was done using Cr3000) Which is, except for quad occupancy Basic, no change. So, The revision for BP We subtract out the Cr750. we then add in the Cr1000 and 1/4 of ...

Re: High jump Shipping and Ticket costs
your formula would NOT reflect the costs of operation at all. We (the non-royal kind that hasn't seen HG) don't know the costs of operation because they aren't present in the CRB. Assuming they are somewhat along the lines of all previous versions of Traveller, the costs should be broken down into:...

Re: High jump Shipping and Ticket costs
If you want to show a higher cost associated it is far easier to simply add a 10% surcharge for every additional parse above one if you are wanting to get there in one jump. So the 100cr cost for jump 1 is Cr110 for jump 2, Cr120 for jump 3, etc. It's simple and scalable and doesn't require a sprea...

Re: Sublight travel
Are you modeling standard starship cabins for occupancy? Shorter in-system flights would be more likely to have smaller cabins, such as you find on rail cars, for 1-3 day trips. Also, if lifesupport costs are now Cr1,000/per person/per week, I don't think your numbers will hold up. Assuming that 50...

Re: Maintenance Costs
I concur that it is unclear.
The rate chosen is not in line with other editions.
One of the few reasonable justifications for the high costs of LS was often a rationalization that it included routine operational maintenance.
Still, Annual maintenance was a minor part of the Traveller feel.

Re: High jump Shipping and Ticket costs
You are right and I think this is something that no one realized before. Sure, most of us guessed that it made sense to maximize your jump distances, but the costs weren't clearly shown. At some of the lower Jump Numbers, J1 and J2, there is enough slop that you can still make money with a J2 ship ...

Re: Maintenance Costs
Mongoose is the only edition where maintenance is monthly instead of annual. Annual maintenance requiring a yard makes sense. Monthly maintenance requiring a yard does not, unless all starships are manufactured by Harley-Davidson. Even nuclear submarines do not require a yard for ongoing maintenance...

Re: Subsidized Merchant
(1) There are now 19 stateroom present, when the design (originally) calls for only 13. Unless the rules have fundamentally changed on something, or 24 tons has been removed from the cargo portion, this design won't work. (2) No hardpoint access is listed. The design rules have changed, much reduci...

Re: Review of all craft deckplans in Beta
One thing that is making it hard to do the review is there are no stats to go against it. So the Fat Trader with 19 rooms on board... is that the new normal? It's not the old version, and unless they've made wholesale changes to engineering and fuel consumption, the design is just plain wrong. Ther...

Re: Missile Thrust
The missiles in the Core book are the basic model - there are lots of higher performance options in High Guard. Given that, does anyone have a serious issue with 5G missiles? In general even the "civilian" style missiles should be faster than most of your civilian ships. And missiles are kind of ti...

Hrm... maybe it might work. Anybody wanna run the numbers for a super-heavy flying brick and what kind of lift it might get while falling out of the sky? I suppose the safari ship might work as an example. Though we have no idea what it masses. Using MT and TNE/T4 numbers... The mass per Td (Ton-di...

Evil, if you look 5 or so posts up the thread you'll see Aramis (the author of the passage stuff in the 2nd ed) has posted revised numbers. You were reading the thread weren't you?  Yes but I did not notice that he turned the X/Y axis around in his revised table. I've always present...

Re: Buying a ship
Unless the new rules change it a ships mortgage is divide by 240 to get the monthly payment over forty years, you pay back twice the ships value in total. So you are thinking they meant a 68 million credit ship will end up costing 136 million? Yep. That's the way it's always been. Most players neve...

Re: Sublight travel
Well, considering that these require in-system, no jump drive nor jump fuel, designs... a merchant with a Type A is going to lose money versus them.
And if you have a large enough traffic flow in system, you'll get BIG ships. 10KTd+... with costs well under half that adjusted asking price.

Something seems off. How can M2 rates be lower than M1 rates? The drives and PP have to be bigger, more cost and less tonnage for Pax and Freight. Does not make sense. Actually, I went back, and discovered two errors on the sheet. (1) I'd missed with a paste. some things were off. (2) I'd grabbed t...

OK, I trust your spreadsheet more than I trust my instincts, but is sure "feels" wrong. Just like the huge jump from J5 to J6 "feels" wrong, but your calculations support it so I am not going to argue. I cannot imagine how much work went into this... Thanks for that. Having the Passage and Freight ...

looking at some pricing data for sublight, since the lack of that data has been mentioned by others. the costs per ton per day for cargo... Trip cost should be based upon days+1 (for the minimum downtime)... if the downtime is longer, simply add it to the days. Low passengers need also Cr100 surchar...
