Re: Where's that Gunner Sit?

The image of a gunner sitting in a ball turret aiming a laser at a target moving at 100km/s 10,000km away is preposterous, The gunner's job is to select the optimum firing solution provided by the gunnery software and press the button to authorise the machinery firing. The gunner could be sitting in...

Re: Passive radar/lidar

Passive radar and lidar require a separate transmitter for the radio waves or laser beams, the detectors can be separate systems and on a different vessel. Since active transmission of radio and laser for sensor purposes makes you much easier to spot, then putting the radio and laser transmitters in...

Re: Travellers Needed - Missiles (check our numbers)

Repulsors need to be re-introduced to the game as the primary missile defence. Most Traveller versions include them, they were removed in TNE when missiles were changed to bomb pumped lasers - although using FF&S you could build kinetic kill missiles... At the ACS scale of things ECM, sand and point...

Re: Shipyard Maintenance

If the system can build its own SDBs then it has a shipyard. Similarly if a system has military bases and operates SDBs then it can have shipyards/maintenance and repair facilities. It has been long accepted in the OTU at least that the starport and shipyard denoted in a world's UPP is for civilian ...

Re: Travellers Needed - Core Rulebook Reprint

A thousand credits should abbreviate to kCr not KCr... chromium as slang for money - lol, just lol; no, even better, rofl rofl More seriously - the generic term credit works well because you can change it if you want to make it setting specific, but if it was changed in the core rule book, well back...

Re: Quick Intro Adventure

High and Dry is good is you want a non combat oriented adventure. Players used to D&D hack and slash will need expectations set going in. Flatlined is good. Death Station - might as well just kill them during character creation. Just kidding. Kind of. Death Station is known for TPK. I have run Deat...

There is no stealth in space, painting a hull black just makes it better at radiating in the thermal part of the spectrum which makes it easier to spot.

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

1. I mean dead stop: the universe can continue to revolve around you. You would have to take into account the relative motion of every galaxy in the universe, there is no such thing as a neutral reference frame since spacetime itself is expanding. 2. As I recall the current formula, it's more bonus...
