Re: [Traveller Art]Kinunir Strike!

Just spin on you long axis and you bring the other side to bear.

See Renegade Legion:Leviathan and the Battletech large ship combat game Battlespace for good examples of this.

Re: Hydrogen to water

Are you kidding? :) What do you do with all that carbon? Turn it into organics, diamonds, graphene, composites. The water ice that is shipped in provides you with oxygen atoms, the ammonia ice that is shipped in provides you with nitrogen. So along with producing hydrogen fuel you can also manufactu...

And are you happy with it?

I put it right up there as one of the best Traveller supplements in my collection.

Re: Passage and Freight Costs table

Your shipbuilding costs are taken from the profit from resource production and goods manufacture. You still have transport costs to get the goods to market so you can either pay for shipping as freight or build your own ships at cost price, not mortgage. How much does the mortgage cost over the life...

Your example is for water being decomposed into hydrogen gas and oxygen gas.

Re: Passage and Freight Costs table

What if the trade lanes are filled with ships belonging to megacorporation who don't have to pay mortgages on their ships, they buy them outright out of the previous years profits? If all you have to cover are crew, life support fuel and maintenance costs then your passenger ticket prices and freigh...

Re: Passage and Freight Costs table

It's possible because that broker on the TL4 pop 2 world took the electronics from a previous trader in exchange for his previous warehouse goods. You can not consider a world in isolation if it is part of a multi-world polity... Or it was impounded because the trade ship that brought it to this wor...

Re: Is there a place that is culturally cybernetic?

TL12+ for wafer jacks. at TL10 just about all you can get from the core book is a subdermal comm implant and armour. CSC gives a lot more options, but you may be entering the realm of Cyberpunk rather than Traveller with some of them.

Re: TAS Membership: High Passage

If you book passage on a jump 1 merchant you can go 1 pc. If you book passage on a jump 2 merchant that is going to a world 2pc away in one jump then you can use it for that instead. If you book passage on a jump 4 liner that is going to a world 4pc away in one jump then you can us it for that inste...

Re: Dichotomy of maintenance

Within the Third Imperium setting the pricing is indeed fixed - by the megacorporations.

They operate the merchant shipping that travels the established tradelanes carrying passengers, 'freight', and 'speculative goods'.

Re: Dichotomy of maintenance

The original trading rules in CT were for a 200t to 400t trader to just about make ends meet. To get rich they would have to build up enough of a stake to start carrying speculative trade rather than freight.

People tried to extrapolate that to the economic model of the whole Imperium.

Trouble is there is still the underclass - and they can keep doing stuff the old fashioned way - unless you exterminate them.

Re: Thinking of getting rid of Astrogation, Medic...and ship computers in general

There's no shame in a society that favors its members and creates a system that supports them with work and compensation that will cycle throughout such a society. Creating a system that favors resources and compensation to fewer and fewer people at the top at the expense of the rest of your popula...

Re: Hydrogen to water

14 cubic metres of liquid hydrogen has a mass of 1000kg
1000kg of hydrogen produces 9000kg of water when combined with oxygen.
9000kg of liquid water takes up 9 cubic metres.

Liquid water is a better way to transport it if you are volume constrained.

Good call, but there is no associated credit cost. Life support requires consumables and without them your life support breaks dow...

Hmm, so the Ancients are actually humanity that borged themselves into the higher state of digital being leaving their primitive, savage underlings and their own weak physical forms behind. I'll bet that was a fun RPG! Nope, bioengineered Chirpers that would eventually end up as electronic/psionic ...
