Re: Will there be another Call to Arms?

Can Mongoose not get royalties by licensing the ACTA ruleset out to other miniatures companies?

For instance, I play a good deal of Corvus Belli's Infinity these days, and that's a setting begging for a space combat game of some sort.

As Iain says, there really isn't that much variability in British WW2 kit for infantry - the number of Bren guns in any infantry company increased towards the end of the war, PIATs replaced Boyes rifles 2 pounders originally started in the hands of the infantry, but by the time of the 6pdr AIUI AT g...

Well, going by the recent FoW announcement of the 'mid war monsters' I don't think it'll be too long until they start making a late war series of vehicles, too - currently it's difficult enough to find a Comet tank (QRF make one, mind you) in 15mm. Let alone a Centurion :)

Well, after much cursing, slicing, gluing, ungluing, regluing and a little bit of filing... Unfortunately I dont have any WIPs of the process. The basic run of it was: hacking off all features from the cast turret, coarse filing and emery clothing back to a generally smooth finish. Then, using a pho...

Read the wording of the AA, shield, dodge and GEG traits - I'm pretty sure they refer to ignoring/discounting incoming damage or AD up to certain limits. If the GS description doesn't say that it ignores those traits, then you have to assume that they still work as normal. Damage is still halved by ...

Shields are around the ship GEG and Adaptive Armour are an inherant part of the ship/ hull. The Grav Shifter effects the Hull not the shield around it. Does this reasoning hold true? They are just traits - they can be lost due to criticals etc., so all of a sudden you 'inherent' features such as vo...

Hi again, newest model for my upcoming British and Commonwealth Vehicle Compendium (see: http://www.agisn.de/html/british_vc.html ). A slightly converted Centurion MkI in 1:56. I made it a habit to include one "very" late war (aka "What If?") vehicle in my Vehicle Compendiums. For the British it is...

IMHO, stealth in ACTA is probably pretty much "correct" as per the show. They mention that during the Earth-Minbari war, the Earthforce ships couldn't get a lock on the Minbari ships, which definitely implies that they *knew* the Minbari were there, they just couldn't bring their weapons to bear be...

What have the rest of races got as my book will take about a week to get to NZ? Well to answer that would require typing half of the book up :P Basically the other races got similar to the playtest material. Minbari get Web Of Death which is basically a weak version of the Escort trait on all ships...

Matt, you actually made an error. The fleet that was being discusssed was 1 Elutarian and 5 Demos. Well, okay, but that isn't a War point. Battle + Battle = War? Battle = 1 raid + 2 skirmish? + Battle = 3 skirmish? Or have things changed? If so, and 1:3 is gone, then you end up with 2 Raid and 4 sk...

That's what Close Blast Doors is for. The Elutarian only has to survive long enought for the squadron to blow up the war level hull of their choice. At that point as a Centauri player, I am already up a substantial number of victory points. Heck, if the range worked out correctly, I might just be a...

I think the hunting pack won't appear very often due to the 8 ship limit. If it does appear, the ship limit will severely limit the amount of brokenness it brings to the games. So this event will not be a good testing ground for the hunting pack rule. Again QFT. Remove the ship limit, and they'd sw...

What use is a tube of one-shot energy mines when your G'Quan has already been destroyed in the first turn by an Elutarian and 6 Demos's? Largely QFT Though to be balanced, it's 2 G'quans vs. 1 Elutarian and 6 Demos? Second G'quan lines up its boresight (maybe). First only gets its emines. If they'r...

There is one downside that no one seems to be paying attention to. The fact that they all HAVE to fire at the same target That is true. It is a quite a significant limitation. Less so for Vorchan/Demos packs, but it is one none the less. This rule does away with all most of the inherent problems of...

There is one downside that no one seems to be paying attention to. The fact that they all HAVE to fire at the same target (regardless of whether they are using the 50% range). That's six ships all firing at one. Chances are the target ship will be destroyed but how many shots will be wasted? Thank ...

HOW CAN A WEAPONS SYSTEM INCREASE IN RANGE!! I suppose this is supposed to represent the fact that as there in a hunting pack they are in fact stationary they are constantly moving to and fro to and fro. Taking the lead then falling back. This is going to be really really open to abuse lots of miss...

It can be difficult from everyones' point of view - what it does is allow the 'back end' of a squadron (6 inches max from stem to stem?) with only 12 inch range to match the range of the front end. For all weapons above 12 inches in range it's somewhat more pronounced. It also opens up fire opportun...
